Decided to replace the 20 year old wires, cap and rotor. I don't believe its ever been done before on the car. Im not the best mechanic in the world and the most "mechanical" work i have ever done to the car by my self is to install hood shocks, air filter and spark plugs
The only part im stuck at is the rotor, don't know how to get it of. I assume the little nut in the pic is what i need to remove in order to get it of.
Heres the pics of the old wires and cap and some pics i took this past weekend drive.

If anyone has any sudgestions please let me know.

The rotor is held on by a hex bolt. Look along the rounded portion of the rotor and you will see what im talking about. I dont remember the exact size of the allen key you need, but i seem to remember it being 3mm, maybe 4mm.

Just make sure you thread lock the bolt when you put it back in.

Yeah, pretty amazing--I replaced my 83's cap, rotor, and wires about a year and a half ago--a first time on the car. She's always started.

I found the kex bolt and its on the bottom of the shaft. Pretty hard to get to if you look at the pic of the rotor. I was told i can crank the engine so the rotor turns and i would have easier access to the bolt. Is it ok to crank it with the cap/wires of?

yeah, you can crank it, by hand would probably be really easy.

I see no problem with doing it, however i would pull the DME relay for safe measure so you dont flood the engine with fuel. As long as your not cranking it for more than a second or two you shouldnt have a problem.

Just be carefull with the boots on those wires. The rubber is pretty soft, and it's easy to damage them. I bought a set of those wires for the 951 because the ones I have on my M3 are fantastic. I've already replaced the set I had on the 951 with regular wires.

I only need to crank it for maybe a half a sec, just to get the rotor turned a half turn so i can have access to the bolt.
I just didn't know if anything would get damaged cranking the car while the cap and spark plug wires was removed.

Or just unscrew the hex where it is. It doesn't need to be turned to access it. Besides, it only goes on one way.
