Default 334hp 2.5L N/A?

I was at a local speed shop(this is a true speed shop, no bolt-ons just custom internals) last week and was thumbing through their catalog and saw that they built 944 N/A engines. Their Stage four 2.5L N/A claims to have 334Hp. Is this possible? I didn't ask any questions about it then but I probably will Tomorrow when I go to pick up my head. The price was pretty hefty for the engine but it is a completely assembled long block. I don't want to look like a ****** when I asked them about it so I'd like to get your opinions first.

334hp at the sparkplug? A bit far fetched, but not impossible. I don't know how they would do it with no external mods. The throttlebody, injector and pump come to mind right off the bat as things that probably wouldn't support that much. All I can figure is crazy head work, a set of really well designed pistons and probably knife edged and lightened everything in the rotating assembly. I'd be curious as well to see what the miracle they worked is??

I think it's completely possible. I don't think it's possible at all on pump gas though.

I have the catalog in front of me and will try my best to list the mods.

New Parts

Custom performance pistons & Deves rings
Teflon Wristpin buttons
Chrome-Moly Conn. rods
Titanium wristpins
Custom Ground camshaft
Hi-RPM Valve Springs and valve stem seals
Titanium Valve spring retainers
Solid race lifters
Oversize valves & bronze guides

Piston work includes: Balanced, knurled, Glasspeened, lightened, Drilled for oil bosses and heatshielded.

Rod work includes: balanced, recut, aligned, glasspeened, and lightened.

Crankshaft work includes: balanced , drilled, knife-edged.

Block work includes, Dipped ,Bored, honed, and milled true. Main and Cam saddles Line Bored.

Head work includes: P&P, milled true, 3 angle valve grind, glasspeened, chambers contoured, valve guides and combustion chamber chamfered and CC'd.

Lightened flywheel, Magnaflux inspection, glasspeened main caps. balance and Blueprint engine.

This is their general description for their stage four engines so I left a lot of things out that I didn't think were applicable to the 944.

So it is possible with extensive engine work. I said before the price was pretty high so like the saying goes anything is possible with enough $$$$.

With the right work and tuning that number should definately be possible, just not easy (ie cheap) to accomplish.

so whats the price?

Assembled its $9400, unassembled $8200. This is for the Stage four, the Stage One starts at $5800/$4800, they also have a "Super Reliability Engine" for the street. The reason I didn't post the price and the name of the place is that I didn't want people thinking I was advertising or associated with them in any way besides being a customer. I brought them my old S2 head to get refreshed since the one I got from Technodyne got grenaded from a broken camshaft. They are only gonna charge me $200 bucks for the head work and offered to completely rework and P&P for another $500 but being low on funds and the holidays approaching I had to pass, maybe next year.

I'll put up pics of the head work I had done tomorrow and let you guys know if they are any good.

I wonder what kind of numbers you'd get if you did that kind of work to a turbo engine?

I MUST see the dyno sheet from this stage 4.
PLEASE ask for the dyno sheet!!!!!!!!!!!
If they make this claim, and have no proof - IT IS FRAUD!!!!!!

Not saying it isn't possible, just don't get ripped off.

I agree. Without the dyno sheet, anybody can may any estimate they like. I won't say it CAN'T be done, but that's 133 hp per liter. That's not an unattainable figure, but I'm doubtful about this.
