I remember it being in a book about the 924/928/944 models called Porsche 924, 928, 944 : the new generation by Jerry Sloniger. At that time it was good for a laugh because it made the comment about the only 4 door produced by Porsche. I think it was used as an "X-Car" test bed for the 944 like the BMW body they used to hide the 924 drivetrain tests (also in the book).

It's an OK read, but it was published back in 1981 before the production models came out. Because of this there is no information on the Turbo, S, or S2 series.

Pics are long gone ( and I did not save any) , but perhaps it was a 2.5 NA in a Mk2 GTI?

“Did you see John Madden and Al Michaels flirt with Sam Ryan down on the field on MNF? I have to tell you, she looked good tonight, especially if I squinted. John teased her about being a size zero. She teased back about him being the size of a 10-unit apartment building.”
