This is the money shot . . .
The location of the four tabs align with the screw holes in the old style hatches. You cut four rectangles out of bar stock and then drill and tap them so you can attach them to the hatch trim with screws basically replicating what you see in the photo. Note that they are threaded where they interface with the lower spoiler trim. That's why I went with 1/8" bar stock on the tabs I fab'd. However, looking at this photo I now understand why the lower trim gasket isn't sitting right. My brackets are flush with the rear hatch glass, these are actually above it. My spoiler trim is sitting about an 1/8" lower then it should which is causing the gasket to pucker. I'm going to have to shim them somehow to get them positioned like in the photo.

It sounds like you are close, Clark. Just give your tabs a little bend and you should have no problem with the 944 gasket. Mine fits fine.

For refrence - the 968 factory assembly on 944 key clearance is aprox 1/8-1/16" to 3rd light
here is pic with key in tumbler. The key barely touches the 3rd light lense when putting into keyhole, but does not actually touch once in tumbler and turns without touching.
When setting your tab height that my be helpfull to you

Thanks for the info.

Rick, no worries. I know what you mean by "the biggest hurdle thus far has been finding enough free time". I got a used spoiler & have had to sand it down to primer (3 non original coats) & rebuild/reinforce the forward mounting tabs. The pics would still be appreciated.
What happened to Mike Murcia's pic above? It was a good one, I was hoping to use it for reference.
