Unhappy Helpity help HELP! - Problem solved update

Criminey, whoda thunk it could be so hard to change the oil?
I got a "top grabber" type cap to grab the old filter. Fitted it to the factory filter, just to be sure it'd fit.
But, whoever put the old filter on there used one that's smaller diameter, so the grabber don't grab. Napa filter, I think. White. Can't see the text.
Dangit.
Went and got a strapwrench. No friggen room.

How the &%^%$%$ am I supposed to get this peicce o crap offa there?

edit

Ok, so I called Napa. They have a capwrench to fit that filter, so I went and got one. It's made of thin metal and slides nicely between the PS hose thingy and waterpump junk. No problem.
Now I just gotta let the engine cool down a bit. I ain't burning myself.

When I'm done with this, if anyone is using Napa filters, the capwrench is free for the taking - you just pay shipping.

Can you poke a screwdriver through it to get a grip? It's messy but I've done it on other cars.

Wrap duct tape around it until it's big enough?

Where is the "Green Hand" method of filter removal thread when you need it??

Use the screwdriver method. Works pretty well.

The screwdriver trick has worked for me before, as Kevin said its a mess, but you can get it started to the point that you can remove it with your hands.

strap wrench will fit, bend handle 90 degrees i.e. inline with oil filter, compress strap so you can just slide over filter straighten out handle so it fits between headers and inner fender, and you have about a half inch to "ratchet" the filter wrench. alternatively you could layer something over the end of the filter socket to take up the slack between the flter and wrench, or you could punch a big bejesus screwdriver into the oil filter and torque it out of there... your choice...

yea, strap wrench should fit fine, thats what i use. just enough to break it free, then used one hand to take it off while the other hand was full of shop towels to catch oil

A strap wrench like this one will fit:

Only use the screwdriver technique as a last resort.

There was a similar thread in the 993 forum, with a solution posted at the end:
