You need to replace the switch that is on the radiator. Passenger(US) side(towards bottom) IIRC
You can replace it with a lower temp one that will come on earlier and keep your car cooler. Easy job.

The fan normally stays on until the temp gets low enough. If the switchis broken, the car always thinks it's too hot and the fan keeps running. Replace the switch and all will be good. Meanwhile, you may want to disconnect the battery negative cable.

I agree with all above. I've had the same problem once myself.
Take a look at Clark's garage, "cooling fan operation"
Good luck!

with fan running pull plug from thermofan switch. if the fan stops then it is the switch. This just happened to me 2 weeks ago. Take the plug from theswitch and jumper slots 3 and 2 fans should run on low. Jumper 3 and 1 and fans shoudl run on high. If this happends relay is good.
To change the thermofan switch I just took off air cleaner and opened the light to give me more room. Loosened the thermofan switch, got other one ready and swapped them real quickly. Didn't empty radiator and didn't have to bleed it either. Works fine now.

Hello,
On my 91, the fan turns off with the key but I noticed something unusual today. The power windows work without the key in the ignition. Should this be right?
Thanks, Lee

Lee- the windows will usually work right after you turn the car off & pull the keys... I read something about working until you open the driver door or something.... not sure how that works- never really thought about it, but I definately can roll my windows up after turning the car off & pulling the key...
Dan- what does "jumper" mean? I've seen this on several electrical threads & am just curious- I'm an electrical idiot, so would appreciate knowing.... I'm about to pull the passenger airbag & the orange control box too- I have to jump two wires together afterwards, or the car will not start- some sort of DME safety or something....
thanks
