I just put a gallon of washer fluid into my 968 and about half of it leaked out right away. Looks like I'll have to remove the right front tire and fender well liner to get to where the problem is? Anyone been there, done that? What's the weak part or connection in there? It's never been frozen.
Thanks,
Harvey

IIRC, mine leaked at a seam/joint a little more than half-way down; I'd expect yours to be the bottle itself, just getting brittle with age, like mine was.
I don't remember if I removed it out the top or the bottom, but I do remember removing the p/s cooling coil and the headlight motor to make room.
Cheers,
Tony

Not sure if the 968 is the same as a 955/951, but I always take the washer tank out through the bottom.
I did have a leak in one of my tanks. There was a crack at the top rear of the lower tank, probably from previous front end damage.
If you have head light washers, check the plumbing and the seal for the head light washer pump.

I just took mine out, and I'm keeping it out. If you want it (and if it's the same) you can have it cheap. The pump it shot, but the tank is fine. If you would like, PM me with a picture of your tank and I'll see if it's a match to mine.

I used 3M Super Weatherstrip Adhesive. Lasts about 3 years at a time, but I only used water in system.
If it were me, I would just replace with a unit that doesn't leak - that's what I wound up doing.

Mine was cracked badly too and used gutter sealant first time - didn't work so then used 5 min epoxy (the one that comes in a dual syringe) and that leaked a bit too, so the third time used fiberglass and polyester resin and basically wrapped all around the bottom. Seems OK now. As far as removing it - yes wheel has to come out and then I just took the front fender liner screws so I was able to bend it out of the way. Quite a tedious jobs to get one screw back in IIRC. Good luck.

Smaller windshield washer bottle.
I have a '87 944 turbo and (with great difficulty) removed the windshield washer bottle. I bought the new washer bottle from Pelican auto parts and it is smaller and the position of some of the mounting holes are different. The claim is that this should replace the original washer reservoir but I don't see how this is mounts. Has anyone mounted one of these in place of their original reservoir?

That's the washer bottle for the 1988 and newer Porsche 944. I updated mine to one omy '86. It's been so long now, i can't remember if I used the old '86 pump or bought a new one. Probably the latter. The right side needs to mount to a bracket. I was going to make one to mount to the powersteering reservoir bracket but just zip tied it instead as a short term solution that's lasted 5 years.
The 968 washer bottle is different again. It lives inside the right front guard behind the wheel, above the ABS.
