Default FR Wilk Chip Review. Finally On Rennlist!

I just finished installing an FR Wilk chip and taking a VERY LONG DRIVE to test it out. Needless to say the flatspots between 2500-3500 RPM are gone. The car is more responsive immediately at 2000 RPM. The car does run rich, but not rich to the point where you can shoot flames out the back of your car.

My exhaust note has changed, the car sounds meaner, throatier, and louder. Many of you know I only have a bullet muffler; well, it's throaty enough to rattle my mom's pots and pans and set my 928's alarm off in the garage

The car is amazing. It feels like a totally different car that will give you a major kick in the **** from 2,000 RPM up to redline! Thank you Mr. Wilk! GOOD JOB WELL DONE! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!!

Always good to hear positive reviews. I always thought that I would get a chip after I rebuilt my engine...and that's coming up soon...

just wondering, you said that the car runs rich. Does this pose a problem when smoging the car? Or how do you manage to pass the smog test with the upgrade?

jgleano, the FR Wilk chip has 2 programs in it; the factory and Mr. Wilk's setup. To set your car back to factory programming, simply remove the bypass plug he gives you and plug the altitude sensor back in. His program is enabled with the altitude sensor is disabled.

LOL a 3hp change will happen between runs on a car setup the same way. Especially if it is done on a different day. (different temp, etc)

Did it chage the area under the curve much?

Hey Mac I always run 91 octane in my car (premium for CA). Changing fuel grades is irrelevant for me; but FR Wilk states to run the car on premium, then down grade it to a mid-grade.

As far as i remember, the HP and torque gains were very little, but it changed the powerband a great deal.

No one seems to do a chip for the '88 cars, I should mail him about that. I know the mapping was different, but I wouldn't think that it can't be improved on...
