Default 944 fest 2006- any takers???

Well. here's the deal. 944Fest is an amazing thing.
It has been from Mansfield Oh, to Lebanon and back.

It would be a wonderful thing to let our inimitable host, Dan P. to take a well neded rest and recovery.
(I know this weekend wears for days on Dan P. )

would anyone be willing to pick up the ball and let Dan P have a well needed rest?
It (of course) wont be the same as if "THE MAN" was at the helm, but this boat must ride on. It's KARMA now.
Kinda like a travelling craps game- this force must continue.

It was a wonderful day when the Swift's took on this responsibility- and pulled it off VERY well. The SOW needs a home for it's premier event.
Dan P. Take a friggin vacation- YOU NEED IT, and we'll send you the pics.

Any takers?

This is a HUGE undertaking. those who are shy need not apply. Consider 60 plus watercoolers in your front yard.... I would do so but my Apt complex would completely freak out.
I know you guy's, and this is a MAJOR threat..

I love you Dan P- Take the kids to Disneyworld.. You so deserve it.

I'd love to see a fest here on the west coast... I don't know exactly what happens at a fest so I can't say if I want to host it, but I certainly have access to a large parking lot. I'm sure there are more potential attendees over there than over here... I dunno I was just thinking.

The location, is of course, up to the Boss. I'd LOVE to see this remain in Ohio. It's Middle states, and the Ohio contingent will be WELL REPRESENTED.

Dan P- care to chime in? You NEED a vacation boss.- Hell we OWE you a vacation.

Can anyone say "Gator"?

The event MUST go on. I think it would be great if it were to stay in OH as well, seems like a pretty good state as far as distances from most people go.

You know, whoever takes over the position of organizing the fest will have a HUGE responsibility. You cannot even fathum what it takes to pull one of these off. It would take A LOT to get the '06 fest like the '05 one. Dan P. simply is the best.

Should we wait and see if he indeed wants to take this year off ?

If he does I say do it cheap style. Someones yard, throw up a few tents, some larger tents to wrench, supply the alcohol and maybe grill out burgers/hot dogs. Other than that bring what you want and hang out. No dyno, no catering, no super duper awesome trophies that take $$ and time to make....I dunno just an idea/thinking out loud. I look forward to it every year...Id hate for it to not happen. Its about the people just as much if not more than the cars ya know!? and I say if Dan wants a year off at least make him the guest of honor and have him show up and get the royal treatment rather than busting his butt!

Thanks, Chris, and everyone else. I am done, for now. I thought about it and I just don't have the time, energy and money to do it again anytime soon. My kids deserve a vacation, I've decided they won't be this young (2,5) for long and I should enjoy every minute. I've awarded the best with the best awards I could imagine. I've done the best location I could imagine, and enjoyed a turnout beyond expectations. I just couldn't top it without selling my soul, so I ain't gonna try. Cuz gave me the OK to take a few years off and that was all I needed.
I would fully support another Ohio event with my connections, website, sponsors, etc.. but moving it out of the state would change it more than I would like to see. I'm glad my tenure miraculously passed without any deaths, arrests or serious misshaps. Man, did we ever temp fate there! Who was it that said " You can't have fun like this too many times before somebody dies"?
It is worth mentioning that back in '01 when we started this, the "GTG", especially the way I did it, was a rare thing. I'd like to think I (with a lot of help from Rennlist) started a very, very excellent trend of folks with similar toys hanging out and having a great time. I like to think attendees made a lot of friends, put faces with names, and learned a lot. These could be connections that last a long time and richen the lives of the folks involved. I can't take credit for all of it, but spreading good karma starts waves of good mojo flowing. In the yin and yang of it all, I'd like to think I've done my small part of making this a better place to play. Sorry to get all sappy, I just want ya'll to know I think of it as a lot more than just a baccanal. (3 : bacchanal --> a wild gathering involving excessive drinking and promiscuity (noun.act)

Once my kids decide it isn't cool to hang out with old crusty Dad, I may be back. For now, maybe I need to flip my handle around to ' Dan P (aka 944Fest)'
