Default It's Friday. 944 trivia.

OK, time to blow off steam once again. Anyone want to do a little 944 trivia, ala the google search game we did a few weeks back?

Here are the rules:

1. You must post a question that the answer can be found to. No archain knowledge that only you or God/Allah/GeorgeB may have.
2. If you answer a question, you get to post a new question.
3. Once the question is answered, it is dead. If you answer it right after someone else just did, yours doesn't count.
4. Must be about 924 thru 968 cars.

I'll start. How many FACTORY-built 968 Turbos were there (includes S and RS models)?

There were 14 968 Turbo S's built by the factory, and they only built 4 968 Turbo RS's

Total 968 Turbos built by Porsche: 18.

Right. 17-18 total, depending on the information source you take the info from. Your turn to ask a Q!

My question: what cars in the 924/944/968 series have interchangeable half-axles?

Edited: half-axle, not half shaft.

Opps - I meant half-axle. As in the rear axle. The stuff that has CV-joints at the ends.

Interchangable as in side-to-side, or as in from model-to-model?

Model to model. But the 'side to side' question is a good hint.

I'll take a guess.

924 4 lug cars

Early 944
924 & 931 (Non snail shell with 5 lug wheels)
944 82-85

Late 944
944 85.5-89
968
924S
951
944S
944S2

What is the option code for The 944 Turbo S limited edition?

M758?

EDIT. I think you are close. Except that the 968 has unequal length ones left to right, thus is not *really* interchangable with the other late cars.

Alright, I get to ask another question!

What year did a 951 first race in an organized, sanctioned event here in the USA?

Nope. As Tifo stated, the 968 half-axles aren't the same length left to right, which is what I was alluding to with my question.

But there's still no answer yet to my question...
