I think we are stymied here. Tehcnically I can't answer your GT question because you haven't answered Z's question.

Other than the 968 shafts, your answer looks good. Although I can't vouch for the early 924. Could they be the same as the early 944 cars?

Alright, since Z may have checked out, we'll get back to it later (?).

I'll guess.

16 valves and it was the future 944 block?

There were only 4 complete factory cars. There were additional "body in white" chassis' produced, you are correct. But not additional cars. There is a unbuilt chassis still here in the US. But that is another trivia question for another day.

Ok, here's the answer to the half-axle question:

For manual trannies:
924 - 931 - 944 early are interchangeable

924S - 944 late - 944S are interchangeable

944S2 - 951 are interchangeable

968 are unique.

For automatics: it's a whole different ballgame - they're all different lengths left to right. Honsetly, I'm not sure which are interchangeable or not.

I guess that means I've stumped both tifo and M758!

-Z-man.

Oh, wait! I know that 86 951 half-axles are interchangable with 85.5 N/A cars though. How does that fit into your matrix above?

I believe the answer is 178. If that is correct then I will ask a question.

technically there were no 1985 951's in the US, 1985 is a ROW-only turbo. as for the rest of the world, there were 178 951's produced in 1985. which is technically a 1984 year, right? seeing as how now car companies sell a 2006 model in mid-2005. in the first year of 951's in the US, we got 7513.

interchangable yes but part# wise no cuz they are not hardened from the n/a. Early 924's had the same shafts IF they had the 5spd. not if they had the 4
