Default Anybody ever use Seafoam?

Would using Seafoam in the intake clean the idle control valve?

I would imagine probably so. Don't know whether it is O2 sensor safe though, is it? I used to use a similar product from OMC on the 2 stroke outboard motor on my boat back in the 80s, worked great.

They swear by that stuff in Land Rovers, my Disco II had *4* 02 sensors so I dont see how it could hurt it...

I guess I'll give it a try.
Thanks.

Yep, all of the hardcore rover guys praise it up and down. Give it a try!

I used it in my daily driver (honda) a while back ... I honestly could not tell any difference. I ended up pulling the intake manifold and cleaning it out myself with some carb cleaner (like 8 cans of the stuff, egr ports were completely clogged).

I have had great results with it. If you can pour it in the main vac line coming off of the brake booster, and keep the car running, it will get in to the intake and everywhere else. It helped my 84 out a lot. I used it in the Triumph Spitfire I had, and worked wonders.

So would it be ok to run a can of seafoam in our gas tanks without hurting the fuel injection system or doing any other damage?

I've used it. Fed it through the brake booster as described above. Threw the rest in the gas tank. Car idled and revved smoother afterwards.

I do not put any in the crankcase, and I recommend changing the oil shortly afterwards.

If you've never done it, or don't often use other fuel injector cleaners like Techron, BG44K, etc....expect a smoke show...

Yeah i'm not a gearhead so i'm kind of scared I might mess something up if I tried to run it in anything but the gas tank. Seems like most people let it get sucked in by the vac line...where are the vac lines for an 86NA? Ditto for the break booster!

If you open the hood the brake booster is the big black circular disc thing sitting right in front of the steering wheel in the engine bay attached to the firewall. The ~1" rubber hose that runs off this towards the engine and connects to the intake manifold is the vacuum line that people use to poor the seafoam in.

Here's a shot from my disassembled turbo - it is basically the same, just with more hoses and crap, and minus the turbo. The red arrow is pointing to the vacuum line.

Can seafoam do anything damaging to the internals and/or gaskets of an engine? I would somewhat like to do this on my camry (for ****s and giggles, if nothing else), but the car has 240k on the motor so I don't want to blow the headgasket or anything.
