Tom,
This problem is usually a heater clip. I've never actually changed one, but that's what i've heard when you get heat all the time and can't turn it off.
Next time please try a search.
On a more serious note, I agree, that's unacceptable. On a new lease or a twenty year old low end German sports car, unacceptable!

So why exactly did you turn the A/C off when standing still. OBVIOUSLY your gonna get warm air coming throught the vents when standing still. If you havent noticed yet but the LS1 in these cars gets very hot. So there is a lot of heat radiating around the front of the car, which just happens to bethe same place where outside air is drawn. As for the "clunking" and the "bearing" sound you hear is the direct result of you not knowing how to drive properly. The clunking comes when you unload the transmission to hard. The "water pump bearing going bad" is the result of you either letting out the clutch to fast from a stanstill or not giving enough gas. These problems can easily be fixes by taking driving lessons and maybee understanding cars a little bit. But the only real request I have of you is to leave this forum and to never come back. Thank you for your cooperation.
WOW! this guy doesn't know ****! what an ***.
and i thought tom got bashed hard on rennlist!

The clunking is a known problem, that is why there is a TSB out on how to fix it. The fix doesn't adress the real problem, just keeps you from hearing it.
It's not a problem of not knowing how to drive it properly, it's a problem of the rear end moving too much under a hard launch.
Bearing noise? who knows but the very early cars (like mine) left the factory with too low of a torque on the pressure plate bolts.
don't be an asshat when it comes to a car you know NOTHING about kid.

I'm old enough to have driven the early GTOs and the new style just doesn't have 'it' for me. It does sound like a heater valve that isn't closing completely. I also like to have just fresh air coming through the vents.
