Question Q about snub nose and bumper pads

Ok ive been searching but cant get one concrete answer.

Here it is. If i were to take those black pads off what would i be left with? Would there be lil shocks sticking out of there?

I went to this thread https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ight=snub+nose

This guy did the snub nose and kept the bumpers on.....

and this is stock

maybe its me but his looks stock. I dont see the "snub" nose at all.

This is lead foots car and he did the snub nose mod which is very noticable.

Here is from the thread you posted

They're held on by three bolts molded into the rubber with 10mm nuts on the inside. Just reach up underneath and you can feel them. Only thing left when you remove them is three little holes and possibly a good example of your car's REAL original shade depending how much sun fade you have.

so with that said. Is the snub nose mod just removing the pads?

WHere does drilling and compressing the shock come into play?

Hey, the snub nose mod is actually compressing the shocks in the bumper. You can take off the bumper with 2 19mm bolts in the holes (1 on each side of teh bumper) and then you will see the shocks + the 3 10mm bolts that hold on the bumper pads. What some people do is drill a hole in the shock and them compress them...then put it back together. Other people gently roll up against something VERY VERY sturdy and GENTLY put the car in 1st and push until its compressed to your liking. I personally like the look..but am keeping it stock to minimize damage to my car in the result of low speed accident!

hope this helps

ok i'm gettign it now.

So whats the "visual" differnece between teh snub nose and removing the bumpers. If removing the bumpers and bondoing over the holes is all it takes to ahve a smooth front on the 944 why would anyone want to do the snub nose?

That is, if i'm comparing them right.

Hell someone IM me and save me from making an idiot out of myself online

It's just personal preference. I like the snub nose with bumper pads look, but I also like what leadfoot did with snub w/out pads. Its really whatever you like.

Because here you help other people

Snub nose gives the car a more euro front look.

"Shaving"(removing and concealing) as it is called the front bumper pads give it a cleaner look.

Two different styles.

Both mean more potential damage to you and your car.
I have been in a few low mile collisions and was very thankful for those bumper pads.
Once on a gravelly road a brand new Ford mutant truck(have truck/half explorer) pulled out in front of me and I had to slam on the brakes. I hit them.
I got out thinking man I bet the front bumper etc looks like garbage.

I could see their bumper and it was bent down and under the vehicle.

Mine, not a problem at all!

Snub nose = actually pushing the whole bumper in

Bumper delete = is just taking the bumpers off.

Is this is correct?

I may have misread, but if you are asking what these cars look like if you take the bumper off...

Edit: or were you just talking about the bumper pads? Aw, screw it... I'm tired!

Snub nose = actually pushing the whole bumper in Yes. Then you can combine it with shaving the bumper pads if you want.

Bumper delete = is just taking the bumpers off.Only seen this done as a joke

You can also do a Euro bumper conversion on the front or back of your car...but that is a whole other story, as there is also a rear bumper valance called the euro and it is not actually a european bumper.

These are what you are actually compressing behind the bumper cover.
Some drill them to let the fluid out, others just slowly compress them.

if you take the front bumper pads off, there are two holes. only 2 studs in front pads, rear pads have 3. and besides the 2 holes, there are 2 1/2 or so studs sticking up in the middle of where the pad would be for added support i assume, you would have to fill the holes, preferably have someone weld them in with aluminum. and then grind off the nubby things to make it smooth
