924S3 Update
The conversion is moving along. So far I've removed most of the items from the engine bay prior to dropping the engine. I pulled the transaxle yesterday and it was easier than I thought it would be. If I can get motivated (I rode my dirtbike most of the day today), I'll head out and pull the torque tube and power steering. After that, I just have the engine drop.
What has made this project easier than anticipated was the purchase of a mid-rise lift (see photo below). No, it doesn't go up high enough to stand under, but I can wheel a stool under and work comfortably.
Photos below:
1. Car on new lift
2. engine bay
3. 924S transaxle
4. 968 engine waiting to go in

I thought my 944S racecar was gonna be cool - this is nuts! You really should consider doing a widebody 924GTS type thing, I have always lusted after those......

On that lift, how much did that run you if you don't mind. I WANT one one day... (EDIT: Porcho Heat, you are QUICK!)
too many one days I know, but have no fear... I will follow through

I've been eyeing up the widebody conversion but need to finish the transplant and determine whether I need to upgrade the brakes. I know I'm going to need to go bigger on wheels than what I'm currently running (15x7 all around).
The lift can be found at http://www.asedeals.com/mid_rise_lift.html and the sale price was right around $1,400 delivered to you nearest dock. What's cool about the lift is that I can drive the car over it (with the help of the ramps) and it doesn't take up any extra space.
Here's a pic of the rear after pulling the transaxle, notice the Leda's
I'll have to get a pic of the 951 tranny that is going in. Time to go pull the t-tube and p-steering.

If I were you, I would skip the wide body, for two reasons:
1)Keep your mods under the radar, they won't know what hit them, unless they hear the exhaust, of course, the killer of all "sleepers"
2)The coefficient of drag will be less ( I think I read your car is 0.33 stock, versus say, a 944, which is 0.36) to keep your top speed, if you're into that kind of stuff.

I got the torque tube disconnected and the power steering removed. Now all I have to do is drop the engine. So far it's been a one man job, but I'm not going to attemp the engine drop till I have another set of hands to help.
For those of you that are thinking about the conversion, there's a 968 engine on ebay that ends today http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...RK%3AMEWA%3AIT (no affiliation with the seller)

that lift is awesome. i wish i had one. btw, i pulled and inserted my engine twice by myself. it wasn't easy, but if you have a lift and an engine hoist, it will be a peice of cake for you.
so what class in pca racing does this make you? are you going to be competitive?

Tifo - sorry but if that thing doesn't go way up in price, I'm going to kick myself given what I paid or mine (57 K miles)
Joe - GT3S. Not sure if I can hang with the 951s that are pushing 400+ rwhp, but it will be fun anyway. Once the car is done, I'll likely have it setup for the GTS challenge series (NASA). I'd also like to run some PBOC events, but with their crazy classification system, I can't figure out which class this car will go in
