Man, it always happens to me this way. I find something on Ebay I am watching intently and it is looking to go for a decent price, then someone adverts it on Renn and it goes thru the roof. Dammit.

GT3S???
Tim, stick to DE. You'll get flattened in GT, if you don't get killed first. And 400hp? You better notch that up a hundred or so.
But still... have your fun.

Progress was made tonight, the engine is out It was easier than I thought, I pushed a palette underneath, put some wood under the engine, unbolted the crossmember, and then raised the lift. I then pulled the bellhousing and clutch. Tomorrow I'll start pulling the heater hoses going to the interior and then everything under the dash. I also need to put the new belts, rollers, and waterpump on the 968 and make a decision on the clutch. Here's a few photos that I snapped tonight.

Tim & John.
I run my little 944 in GT4S. Sure not the hp thing GT3S is, but I while I am not on pace by any means it is not that bad.
I did however send rules change proposal to the PCA Club Racing folks about allowing up to 3.0L 944 based NA motors in GT4 and 2.5L 944 NA motors in GT5. 944 Turbos would stay in GT3 as they have plenty of power.
Keep and eye out for it when rules changes come out for review in the start of Sept.

I like the rule suggestion and hope it flies!

Hey, I wasn't trying to start an argument, it was more a "woe is me" statement! . No harm no foul, it will all work out for the best anyway.
I did luck out once a few weeks back when I was watching some Charlie Arms and someone announced them on the 951BBS. I was like, dammit! But, then to my suprise no one really bid on them even after the posting and I stole them for $600.
We now bring you back to the discussion at hand..............The 924S3 is going to be killer once it is done. Can't wait to hear your driving impressions on it!

I was in the market for a 968 engine last week. 58k miles for $3.5k from a yard in Florida, $4.0k from Oklahoma. I almost bought the one in Florida but the guy didn't want to ship to California, weird. Anyway, I settled on a rebuilt head for my car and I will save my money for a car I really want, an S2.
I think hoping for a 968 engine at $2k or lower will be a long wait. Perhaps a S2 but not a 968. If you do find one at that price good luck and have fun!

Tifo - no harm intended.
jbg - 3.5k sounds about right for a 968 engine in good condition. The one that sold last night went for cheap, I wonder what that's all about?
Ok, back to the 924S. I spoke with Lindsey racing today and I think I'm going to go with the Spec Stage 3 clutch. Stage 4 sounds like it would be a pain just to get the car on the trailer (I don't use a winch). Plus I occasionally drive it down the road for fun.

Three Wheelin'
We met a fellow with a 924S3 at a Oregon-region PCA DE at PIR in July. I believe he was from Idaho. He thought he had the only 924S3; not for long, I guess. He was retired, and had put 18,000 miles on the car in the 10 months since the drive-train swap travelling to DEs across the US. With all that seat time, I can tell you that his 924S3 was faster than my (almost) stock 951S!

OK, enough small talk, I have a question. Below is photo of my flywheel off of the 924S and one that I got for cheap from a 944S2. As you can see, they are different around the perimeter but the clamping surface is the same. The question is which one will work with the speed and reference sensors mated to the 968 DME. The 924S uses one or two nubs that initiate the sensors and the 944S2 users the "teeth". So which one does the 968 DME like?
