Alright.. ill go check in a couple mins.. gotta pull some tools back out .. I assume there should be.. but what would u recommend for if there is and if there isnt?
Also.. when you bleed w the bleeder screw by the method of just running your car w the heat on:
1) Do you fill the expansion tank until the max line or until coolant comes out of the bleeder? (i did the first)
2) Do you put the cap back on the expansion tank before turning on the car? (i did)

yeah i take a really skinny funnel and add it where i take out the bleeder screw. and also, when your car was warm....were all of your hoses getting hot? were they staying cold? maybe take a hose to the radiator...but i would think it IS the thermostat. please please. when you get a new one, check it on the stove to see that it opens up all the way. i got a bad brand new one, and had to redo my belts because evrything.......just bad ok? please check it on the stove before putting it in, or you might have to do it twice.
i COULD NOT GET MINE OUT WITH SNAP RING PLIARS EITHER. i used a tool that has a 90* very thick point. i bought it at napa. i think its a pin puller. you can get good leverage with it, but wear gloves for when you slip. pull one side out with the tool, then you can get behind it to work it out more, then keep a screw driver behind it so it doesnt go back in the groove. and now you can pull the other side out. mine usually spring out at me. going in, you can just compress it til it is in the hole, then push it back to the groove. i can take a pic of the tool if you need me to.

If there is coolant there, your car should be full of coolant. If there is not, put a funnel on the head and fill it up...you've got other problems: faulty tstat. I run the car for a little bit with the cap off. Then drive it around and when I stop, top of the tank.

did you let the car get up to temp? Itll take a good hour of idling to get the thing up to temp correct before you bleed, and if its hitting red before its warmed up it prob. has alot of air in the system. Get it actually hot before you bleed it, and open the heater after its hot. Remember! its not up to temp till the fans kick on unless its not working correct either. They kick on around 236degrees so if they are not and its reading hot, its just the gauge sender reading hot air.

i had it idling for liek 20 mins.. but the temp guage in the car was into the critical area so i turned it off. It was basically just then starting to shoot out lots of steam but i was afraid the engine was getting too hot.
Kenny.. my plan was to replace the tstat.. but i couldnt get the damn snapright out and i didnt have time to run to the store to buy more tools.. so i wanted to just fill ti up w the tstat thats in there (im not sure if anything was wrong w it or if its fine.. i was just going to replace it as a precaution).
So i should take the expansion cap off when warming the car also? Ill try that too i guess. Im gonna do it all int he AM bc its too dark here now. And should i just drive around or sit there idling.
Also.. can i open the expansion cap if the cars hot or will i got hurt? lol

So.. should about 2 gal of coolant have been taken when I started refilling it?
And when I warm up the car should I ignore the internal temp guage and just hope fluid starts moving?
And expansion cap on or off?

yeah, stop what yo are doing, if the thermostat that is currently in the car is not working, then go get a replacement, and get that snap ring out. If you take the advice that i told you, by getting the proper tools it will not be hard, I promise!

The thermostat snap ring can be in such a position which nothing but the most specialized snap ring pliers can get to it.
You only need common hand tools and a little patience to get it out...
Try to start it by prying on one of the ends with a pick or a small screwdriver. Once you get it started, it takes nothing but leverage to get it complete out.
