Default Your best junkyard finds!

I went to the local import junkyard and snagged some great deals!

Set of perfect floor mats: $25.00

Excellent working digital clock: $10.00

and

Several misc trim pieces: $10.00

I am so glad these guys are clueless as to how much porsche parts cost! They have charged me more for VW parts!!!

and yours???

I need to hit the junkyard more often...I have several parts on my car now from the junkyard. Headlight motor, fuel rail, various relays, washer fluid tank/tubing, windshield wiper arms, heater bar, 2.5l block, a couple cookie cutters...probably a few more I'm forgetting.

My best junkyard find.. sorry for the OT.. back when I lived in Terre Haute, Indiana, I was pre-Porsche and keeping a couple of beaters running. Toyotas, IIRC. The local junkyard was mostly domestic, way out in the boonies, muddy and overgrown with weeds, prickers, wasps and prickers. It never fails that I'd hike up the big hill to the back lot where they kept the imports, and get out there baking in the hot sun and hear the call of nature. No, not the kind you can take care of on the nearest Chebbie or tree, but #2. One day I felt the need and started hunting for something to finish the job. Seat covers, owners manuals, whatever.. it was getting close to emergency time. Then I opened the back door on a pinto wagon and found them.. a like new pack of baby wipes! Pure heaven in plastic! This was before I had kids and didn't know how great this things are! Anyway, I used what I needed, and packed them back in a special hiding place for next time. Now that I'm a dual daddy, I keep them on hand all the time. If I ever go junkyarding again, in the backpack with the tools will be a pack of wipes. For cleaning hands, parts, or whatever else needs it!

Now that is a find!

I also kind of found my car in a junkyard... It was behind a small dealership in a lot of cars that didn't run and were wrecked. It sat for 6.5 years.

Well I got a genuine locking gas cap for free and I got Devon a nice manual sunroof in Kalahari Beige (or something close to it) for nothing too lol, we have hooked each other up with Range Rover and 944 stuff way too much...we gotta buy more parts cars Dev, our parents yell at us more but we'll get more stuff for practically nothing lol, I'm always glad to lend you a hand bro.

Ha! I could have definetly gone for some of those today. I was cursing myself for not bringing a box of disposable gloves! I don't do any work on my car without them now!

back when I had my old car (geo storm) I found its sister car, the isuzu impulse. I yanked off the entire lotus tuned rear suspension and brakes, power accessories and some other stuff for $100. That made it a fun car.

i found a nice mustang hood w/ a factory scoop on it for my car when i was in high school, already in primer ready to go. They look at me funny when i ask for "porsh" parts though.

My best was getting 4 sets of manual sunroof latches, 4 door handles, every relay left on 4 cars, a manual sunroof panel, and 2 heated Acura mirrors for $25 total at a Pick n' Pull 1/2 price day. The $100 83 N/a motor (92K miles) with new mounts and cross member was not bad either. It's starting to look like a Jeff Foxworthy Redneck Yard around here.

All my cars should have been in the junkyard a long time ago... does that count?

The best find for me was an upper balance shaft. Dealer said over $1100!!! Got it for $45 at the yard. I danced a little jig after that....

Mother of god, that is a spectacular junkyard find. Moreso than anything else I've seen posted hahaha
