Minnesotans: PCA Club Race @ BIR, 5-7 AUG!
Callout for the local/MN crowd:
The Nord Stern Region of the Porsche Club of America is having its annual Club Race up at Brainerd International Raceway in two weeks, 5-7 AUG 05.
Last year there were 55-60 race cars, and at least an equal number of street/prepared cars running in Driver Education sessions, add in a number of spectators cars, and you end up with 150 plus Porsches in one location.
Saturday and Sunday are the big race days, and both would be good days to watch. Saturday includes practice sessions, practice starts, and the endurance race (1 hour). Sunday is qualifying, the sprint race, and the Loonacy race – which is basically an inverted grid. And since it’s a club event, there is no admission (Free) to get into BIR.
As Ive mentioned before, if you haven’t been up to one of these events before, and you have even the slightest interest in P-cars and/or going fast, its worth the drive up to Brainerd.
Hope to see you there.

Pat,
Tentative schedule:
Saturday cars will be on track for DE run groups and race practice starting around 9am, practice starts will be after lunch, and the enduro will be late afternoon.
Sunday, warmup and practice will be going no later than 9, qualifying will be mid-late morning, sprint race will be after lunch, and the looney race will be mid afternoon.

Surprisingly, i'll be in the area then (visiting my parents and then going for a vacation in the Brainerd Lakes area). So I might just show up, but NOT in a Porsche, unless I can convince my Dad to buy one before then.

I'll be there working for Eurosport Racing out of the Chicago area. If you want to see some real nice and real fast cars UP CLOSE, stop by the trailer and ask for me (Andy). We should have an assortment of cars we are supporting. You're right though, an excellent opportunity to see a lot of nice cars.

Andy, you bringing the pit crew in your avatar along from Chicago also????
I spoke with the region registrar on Saturday and he said a bunch of Chicago cars are coming. Eurosports been up there the past couple years, correct? Who are you bringing up there this year? Any F Class cars (got to keep an eye on the competition.....)?

I wish. They weren't the best crew, but they definitely served a valuable purpose.
Eurosport has definitely been there before, but this will be may first trip. I am not exactly sure who we will be transporting. Most of the F Class cars are transported by the owners, so it is kinda hard to tell. I wouldn't be surprised if one or more show up though.
BTW If you still ahve the 944S Club Racer for sale, call Mark Link at Frozen Rotors. I talked to him last week and he was talking about buying a Club Race 944. He is relatively close too.

Andy,
Car is $13.5k. I ran some 2:47s w/ it over at the RA Club Race a couple years ago (2002), and I think it will go faster. Not bad for a little H car. I can send you a PM or email with the specs/details if anyone expresses some interest.
