Default Porsche 2 Oxford: PICS PICS PICS! 56K shall DIE!

The Porsche 2 Oxford car show is coming up soon on Saturday July 30 in downtown Oxford Ohio, the home of Miami University.

As of right now Im told over 70 cars have preregistered which is more than double what was preregistered at this point last year for Porsches 2 Pinckney. Pinckney ended up having 100 cars, so we are shooting for upwards of 200 cars.

The entire downtown will be closed off all day, from 6am to 8pm for this thing. Its a great college town with the typical downtown shop/street atmosphere. The Elms Hotel is the basecamp for those staying overnight and the 45 East Bar and Grill will be open all day and serving food for only those showing their cars at the event.

You can preregister at www.porsches2oford.com or you can register directly at the show. anytime after 8am. There will be a car wash there on-site for attendees only which opens at 6am.

There will be Peoples Choice voting from noon-2pm, 3:30pm awards, and at 4:15 there will be a car show group drive to Hueston Woods which we're hoping is going to establish a record for the longest continuous line of Porsches as told to me.

There will be a 6pm dinner at 45 East Grille for attendees only (your tab).

I know the people putting on this show and they do not do ANYTHING half ***. The city of Oxford is pumped and even wanted to have uniformed officers patrol the streets for safekeeping. However they wanted to charge like $800 for that!!

Oxford is about 1hr from Dayton and Cincinnati and not much farther from Indianapolis. I promised a decent 944 turnout so I cannot show up with my tail between my legs.

HMMMMM, VERY interesting... My B-day is the 30th and my friend goes to Miami school. He is staying down there during the summer so I JUST might make it down. My local PCA is having an event on the 31st so I am not sure yet.

I have kept this on the calendar since you first mentioned it Chris, and it sounds like a really cool event. Oxford is a great place too.

But I wasn't able to arrange definite covrage at work beforehand, so I'm playin' it by ear. If I don't have to work (and i won't know for sure until closer to the event) I will DEFINITELY BE THERE.

Bump!

Ive received an update on the show and there are now over 100 cars already pre-registered for the event which is just a little over a week away. The goal is 150-200 Porsches of all makes and models, but I have to be honest, I need help from the 944 crowd because if the waterpumpers arent represented I may lose my life. I promised them a decent turnout because of the insatiable appetite the SW Ohio folks have for coming together in the name of all Porschedom.

Ive already seen the list of giveaways for the raffles and theres some real good stuff. Lots of cool Porsche apparel and accessories. This is going to be a great time and the location is off the charts.

The DasVroom event is the same day, unfortunately. And since I went to DasVroom last year, and it was a blast, I'm going again. I may be the only one of the local crew there, but oh well! (German Brewery District, live bands, lotsa different German cars, great food, etc.......)

Another bump. Last update I had, 117 cars wre pre-registered representing 16 PCA regions including Canada. States represented so far including Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Maine, and a cpl others.

The giveaways start at 10am and go on throughout the afternoon. awards around 4pm. And then a collective drive through Heuston Woods at 5pm or so. The weather is supposed to be absolutely perfect and in the low 80s. If you havent registered you can do so anytime on-site after 8am. Location is downtown Oxford OH so you can Mapquest it to Main St in Oxford OH and that will get you there.

The classes have been broken down by year:

a.............1955-1973
b...............1974-1982
c............1983 - 1985
d.............1986-1987
e.............1988 -1994
f..................1995 -1998
g.................1999-2001
h.......2001 -2005

Im told a 6,000 mile 89 Speedster and undriven 89 930 owned by the same guy will be showing, so I will be scrambling for scraps I think.

The waterpumpers need to represent though!

Got back from P2O this evening. All I can say is

WOOOWW!!!

This was probably the best location for a Porsche show Ive ever been to. The town of Oxford OH was the perfect venue as it offered a great picturesque backdrop, tons of restaurants right on the premises to walk in and get something to eat, plenty of shade, a big courtyard with room to lounge, a giant pavillion with amps for cool tunes and a good PA system, bricked streets, and immacutately manicured surroundings. I must say not much could have been better. There were even Oxford police combing things just to make sure everything was under control and everyone was having fun. It could not have run smooth and at the expense of sounding like a big homer, I think my buddy who helped organize the show slam dunked this one. I just hope its back again next year in Oxford. The town seem to really like the event. Almost 150 cars were present which makes it one of the bigger gatherings in the midwest. There was a driving tour through Heuston Woods after the show, and over 100 cars participated, but I opted not to. Maybe someone who went can post those pics.

The proof as they say is in the puddin' pops, and I have lot of pics. Saw a number of Rennlisters in Oxford and you will certainly recognize their cars.

Here we go:
