Default 944 or 9442 ?

Hi , My sister just bought a 1985 944 , i need the a/c compressor tensionner (strut) and trying to locate the part in the exploded view on the porsche pet program i saw that there was two choices for the 944's , 944 and 9442 What is the difference ? Do you think that part is going to be easy to find in the used ? Thank's

Maybe they are talking about an 85/2 car. That is all I can think about.

Probably very easy to find used. A lot of guys go the el cheapo "delete" road when their a/c stops working. There are probably hundreds of tensioners sitting in boxes in peoples' garages. . .

I believe the 9442 on the PET refers to the 944S IIRC.

Actually, in PET, "944_2" refers to all 85.5 and later 944 (including the S)

Look at your dash... if it has bubble-like gauges, it's 944 in PET. If it has a single cluster, it's 9442. Yes, the 944 in PET is only the early 944 (-1985). 9442 refers to all the later models (1985.5+).

Thank's , the car has a single cluster so i will consider it a 9442 for the pet program and further searches for my parts , any idea where i could find a used adjusting strut at a reliable place ?
Thank's again
