Kleen Wheels or Dirty Wheels?

Kleen Wheels or Dirty Wheels?
Hi everyone,
I used Kleen Wheels on my 97 BMW 5 series with no problems and enjoyed nice shiny wheels with little effort. So I request them on my new X5 and the salesman says - oh no, that product is not recommended and voids the brakes warranty because of all the heat build up. Any comments?

they are not a good idea if you plan on doing anything remotely performance oriented with your vehicle. They block off the vast majority of the cooling air that is intended to keep your brakes cool enough to function.

I do not know, but as for a wheel cleaner goes (I know Kleen Wheels isn't a cleaner) Use P21S wheel cleaning Gel... completely non-acidic. you can leave it on for up to 4 hours and it'll clean your wheels while you sit on your duff. it's great...
I can however imagine the heat buildup caused by Kleen wheels... IMHO, I like seeing brake rotors and stuff. I know the kleen wheels plates has little vents, but I can't imagine they allow anywhere near as much air as the stock wheels through, thus resulting in heat buildup...
I say buy some P21S wheel cleaner gel, and use it weekly... BMW's are notorious for dusty brakes.

My father used them our family Ford Taurus that we used to have while living in Germany. After a few sharp corners in the Alps the brakes actually caught fire.
I would highly recommend against them on any performance oriented vehicle. Dirty wheels are a pain but fire is worse!

P21S does. it's a company. the Gel wheel cleaner is what it's called. great stuff. won't hurt a wheel... for heavy deposits, you'll have to do some scrubbing but it's not bad at all..

I would assume also that if the brake dust is allowed to bulild up on the inside of the Kleen Wheel plastic, it can't be too good for air circulation to the brakes. Not to mention too much brake dust caked on the calipers?
Bad idea!
