Default Nearly prepped for the fest, accomplished a lot today. where do you stand?

well been in the garage for about 6 hours or so today. and a list of the things i accomplished -

changed oil
fixed blinker auto-return
fixed steering wheel alignment
fixed horn
replaced timing belt
replaced balance shaft belt

used the kricket for tensioning and am pretty confident i got it where its supposed to be. i turned it a few times by hand to check for any resistance after the new belts were on and all felt good, fired it up and sounded just as i remembered it

the belts looked like they were ok when i took them off, a new radiator was put in about a month before i acquired the vehicle, and i had figured some front end stuff was replaced. but for peace of mind i at least knocked out the belts. found out i do indeed have updated waterpump on there too

i am glad i did it now though, because the timing belt was rubbing on the waterpump pulley and there was a lot of rubber piled up on the guard.

feel good to get everything back together in working order

any of you guys(and girls) have any last minute things you need to do before next weekend?

Still crossing my fingers on THAT one. I went to turn it over last weekend and realized I'd put the alt/starter wires on backward. Had to yank the intake, alt, etc., pull the wire through, turn it around, feed it back down to the starter, then hook it up. Put the larger starter wire on the solenoid, then the smaller and sheared off the bolt. F&$%! Spent this afternoon looking for a new solenoid. NAPA wants $116 and can't have it for 5 days. Found a shop about 15 miles from here that stuck a VW solenoid on and charged me $21.30. I'm back in business, but I don't know how many screwups I can afford before the Fest is upon us!!!!!

The 954 needs an alignment, bypass valve and an oil change. It's looking like I'll do the oil change and run, the cash is not there for the rest. I'm saving pennies for gas as is.

Well the brand new starter is clicking at me and the place I bought it from only deals with customers via email as of recently.
It rained all day today and I am leaving for jersey tonight/tomorow morning....won't be back till monday... so lets hope that after I bump start it, it doesn't give me any more issues.

I need to lube the delrin bushings and look at the steering rack mounts...nothing serious.

I would like to change the oil and tranny fluid, probably won't make it though. I should have just enough time to fix my splitting hatch, wax the car, polish the wheels, detail the engine and interior.

Well I said I was coming, but due to the fact that my car needs to be completely rewired. Once again, I miss 944 Fest.

Guys,
Just cause your cars are apart/broken/need fixed, don't mean 944Fest isn't an option!

Me: I'm sitting on $1000+ worth of parts hoping I can get them installed an ready to roll by next friday. Cup Clutch Kit, Aluminum Flywheel, Oil Change, Gear Oil Change and maybe look into why my front pass turn signal don't work. I wanted to get my Apillar pod installed, but i don't even have the gauges ATM!

Right.. Less talk more work. I'm off to the garage!

Just took mine around the block and datalogged a bit after installing the SMT6. Air/Fuel looks good for the most part, needs some tuning past 5 grand but she's ok....

Only must do's are:

Oil Change, (1) New Rear Tire, Wash/Wax/Detail Inside/Out

Uh, let's see- clean the tire donut from last week's race off the driver's side door? Fill with gas & go. RatDog lives.

Oil change and a detail for me. Probably don't have time to have my wheels refinished from the mounting damage.

I just attempted my 3rd hatch repair attempt and am going to wax my car tonight a couple of times. Anyone else love waxing your car?
