Question Replacement for plastic sheet behind door panel?

I just removed my door panels today because I am taking the car to get some paintless dent repair work done tomorrow. I noticed that my passenger side door is missing the big sheets of plastic film that cover the inside of the door to protect the door panel from moisture. Is this a problem? Has anyone had success with any kind of replacement material?

I'm not too worried about this, as I never really drive the car in the rain and the inside of the door panel looks pristine.

You could probably just get some vinyl drop cloth material and cut it to fit.

I would for sure replace it, maybe with some 4 mil plastic. Without it, the door panel will deteriorate and start to smell bad - like an old 50's car. A lot of water makes it way down inside the door and it only takes a few minutes to cut a piece to fit....Bruce

F18- Did you run out of tape? or do you plan on mailing the door to someone?

Bruce, when I saw the thread your door is the first thing that came into my mind. In fact, I was going to post that picture as a guide!
Thanks again for the wiper delete plug.

I second the 4 mil drop cloth. We restored a 75 914 and replaced the original vapor barrier with 4 mil plastic. We used 3M spray adhesive to attach it.

i went to meijers and found like 60 feet of some garbage bag looking material. its pretty tough, and its a LOT stronger than a garbage bag so dont get the wrong idea lol. It was like 70 dollars for a roll, and it did both my door panels and i have a whole bunch lying around still

yeah i also used the 3M spray it was in an orange can at autozone.

Buy a cheap clear shower curtain at a dime store--should make 5 or 6 of these vapor barriers.

Adrian,
You Brits truly don't know the qaulity of that fine US gov't issue postal tape. Push on Bruce, I think that door might actually be a mod. exceeding the oem. Sorry, I feel I must stand up fo Mr. Arn and his high standards.

I'll have to see both of those plastic sheet options with the door panels back on before I can tell which one looks better.

i can get a drop cloth for $1.99 at the hardware store where i work. buying OEM for something like this imo is kind of pointless. and afaik, it would look identical to the one you bought from the dealer.
