Default Stainless Steel A/C Drier/Receiver

Does anyone sell new OEM stainless steel A/C driers? The black aftermarket one that I have is already starting to rust on the outside, whereas the OEM one remained rust-free for 19 years.

Thanks and stay cool.

I likewise kept the stainless steel one; it's a lot nicer looking than the Parker ones and the sight glass is a lot bigger / easier to see. I've heard you can bake 'em in an oven to dry out the dessicant and they'll be as good as new, but I haven't tried it and can't speak to the accuracy of that claim.

Here's what some of the camera guys do to dry out the desiccant packs:

Some dessicants made of silicagel are coloured with cobalt salts, so they are blue when dry and pink when hydrated."

Slow heating for longer times are recommended for drying them (250 deg F and NOT 250 deg C).

They baked the desiccant packs for 8 hrs @ 250F as they are cloth bags and cannot take higher heat.

Anyone try "baking" to dry out the A/C drier?? I'd like to keep the SS OEM unit rather than go to the painted units, many which don't even have the sight glass.

dealer item - can't get a price until Monday, but they are more that $25, that's for sure. OEM-listed units in black come from either Parker Hannifin or CRP.

I bought one of the black ones, from NAPA, came with the sight glass painted over, and a big sensor on the top which I had to remove to even make it fit. Ontop of that, it was too small for the clamp that holds it in, so I had to wrap it in electrical tape to keep it from rattling around.
Rather disappointed. I wonder what the cost on the nice ones is?

IIRC, you can't dry a dessicant, but I could be wrong. Worst case, would be you have to open up the receiver/dryer, and put in new dessicant.

That might not be paint on the sight glass. Mine had a black rubber sticker over the sight glass that removed with a fingernail.

Mine was paint
Looks like they forgot the sticker. It took me about 5 minutes with a razor blade, it was really stuck on there.
