Default Easy way to get my sunroof to open more??

I don't wanna jinx my working sunroof...but I think it should open about an inch higher.

Is there an easy adjustment I can do (1/4 turn on some micro switch) to get the roof to open more, without messing up the closing of the roof (which works fine)??

Ensure that the micro switch at the front has good contact with the part attached to the roof. If it is not making good contact, the roof will not open all the way. To test, hold the micro switch in and operate the roof. Will it open further?

When mine wasn't working properly i took the headliner out and played with the threaded rod that turns the plastic gears to get the highest opening possible. The way to do this is with the roof out press your finger on the sensor just behind the cabin light that tells the car the roof is in, while at the same time pressing the sunroof switch. You can watch the threaded rod move along and set it up for the longest possible length of travel. Mine opens fully about 2-3 inches i'd say, farther that others i've seen.

Check and replace those gears if they needed it. Good luck!

Why not just take it off and go roofless?

Nah. I don't have the patience to take the roof off, move it to the rear, secure it...then put it back in when clouds appear!

I just want another inch of opening...is that so wrong?

I have to press the microswitch to get the roof to open all the way. I think it's the plastic thing on the sunroof that's at the wrong angle. I haven't had time to play with it.

So if the sunroof retracts and locks correctly, but only goes up abotu an inch, the microswitch is liekly the problem ? All the other functions on mine are working, I just can't get it up

As for the sunroof, yes, it is probably the microswitch. As for not getting it up, well that's another forum.

Can't get it up huh?...Do you think perhaps the plastic gears are stripped causing the rod that turns them to not move properly?

Perhaps i can take some pictures later and show you guys how far mine opens. If anyone would like that let me know.

Later!

Question, why do you assume its the switch? Can't it be the gear or rod? I just assumed the switch either said the roof was there or wasn't? Just curious...

The thing is, it just stops - no motors turning or anything like that, so it seems likely it's being told to stop (i.e. switch rather than mechanical issues). The gears are practically new as well.

I'm saying switch as well. When mine stops, I just hold the microswitch up with my finger while pressing the sunroof button, and I get another inch or so.
