Default Power window, something stripped?

Just wondering if there is any common failure in the power window mechanism that would result in the motor turning, with no/little response by the window.

It started out with a big clunk when the window got halfway down, luckily got the window back up. Went to try to lower it again and basically saw that something was jammed, the door panel was bending away from the door whenever I tried to move the window (either up or down).

Currently, the motor just turns and kind of catches on something.

I guess its possible that something simply came loose. Like I said, just wondering if there are any common failures in this area so I can go ahead and order parts before I tear it apart.

thanks,
Adrial

Welp, after little response from here I just started taking stuff apart.

Turns out the bolts holding the mechanism that converts rotation to translation was loose and thus out of adjustment. Will need to pick up some fender washers as the sheet metal is a little beat up after them being lose.

If you need any door parts, I've got a couple lying around. If it's a drivers door I've got a late(90) one that you could have the parts left on it for the cost of shipping.

Thanks Jason...I think I'll take you up on that...can't seem to get it back into adjustment...something is probably just worn.

Zip code is 10589, paypal ok? Where should I send $$? My shipping address will be in the paypal info.

Paypal is fine.
Can you take a picture of the part that is damaged? It is the drivers door right?

Yeah, its the drivers door.

I dont have it all apart, so I cant take a picture of what the problem is...I'm not really sure to be honest.

If you have a picture of all the window stuff, I may be able to pick out what the problem is.

I would rather not take it all apart before I have replacement stuff, but if you need me to I will.

Part #14 in the above diagram is actually 2 different pieces, the motor and for lack of better terms a transmission that converts the rotation of the shaft in the motor to a gear inside the transmission. That big gear on my '83 is plastic. I can easily see how a tooth might get broken in there and mess things up.

Been procrastinating putting mine back together, lots of cleaning to do still.

EDIT: Reminder to self read before typing, it IS a transmission!
