Default Early Car Windshield Gasket

On the Early cars, is there a gasket that runs inside the top trim pieces. I have the other two pieces, and gaskets that go in them, but I can't remember if there was one that I might have thrown away, becasue it ripped, that goes in the top. If so, where can I orderone, or does anyone have one?

My 83 has only the base rubber gasket, then glass, then metal trim. The later cars had the gasket insert in the space where our metal trim goes.

This is what I have, two side trim peices with gaskets, and one top center peice with no gasket, is this all I need for the windshield man?

PET shows no seal at the top just moulding. There's no gasket behind the top metal strip on mine but I'll give it a better look in the morning if you want. I just had my windshield done a few months ago. PET shows only the two side gaskets and they are for wind noise only, the glass is already sealed against the body. Maybe these will help.

in the first picture, item number 3, is that a seal that goes underneath the glass? If so do I need to source that as well?
Thank you for the clarification on the moulding, that is good! Glad to hear I am not missing anything on that!

From your photo it looks like you will need that #3 they call a 'set of sealings windshield' part # 477 898 011 A. They call it a 'set' but I think it's only 1-piece. I suppose you can just call an auto galss shop but I bet they will source it from Porsche anyway. Mid America Motorworks has them for $24.99 http://www.tweeks.com/shop?frame=6.77.2648

hmmm, when i go to the site and click on the picture of the sealing kit this is what I get....
I really doubt that is something I need, looks like generic windshield sticky stuff...

Yea but it's got a Porsche part # so it's instantly 5x as expensive.

Thats all it is, the windshield gasket is just a really sticky formable 2-sided sealing strip that bonds to glass and metal, I dont think it's a formed gasket like you see on the side windows. The 87+ cars have a different setup because they dont use a moulding frame to hold the glass down tight. You might call a shop and try to find out for sure.

your windshield should be glued in by a glass guy with some windshield eurethane glue. Call someone! Using that butle tape will result in a real leaky windshield!
