How the hell do you keep them compressed to reinstall!

Anybody have any tips?

have a friend hold the hood up, you use your body weight to compress it and put it on...it's not the easiest job out there...

job should take about 10 minutes.
have a friend watch the hood so it doesnt press against the window.
dont raise the hood - keep it about 3/4 of the way up.
connect the shock at the fender and use your body weight to compress the shock and hold it at the hood and slip the pin in.
There a little hard to compress and hold, but easily done. Get a buddy, and the two of you can press down.
Dont be "girlie-men".

Did it by myself. So uneventful I can't even remember the details, and I think it was closer to five minutes. You can do it too.

Start going to the gym JK.

I had no problem compressing mine. It does take effort. Just prop the hood up with a stick.

ummm, no

I did it myself in about 5 minutes. You don't need to compress the shocks! Just get a pair of vice grips and lock the other side fully up then you have the freedom to simply slap the other shock in fully extended. Repeat for other side.

You do need to compress the shocks slightly to install. Just put them in the freezer for a little while (hour or so) prior to installing so that they are "sluggish" and don't return to extended position too fast, then compress to the proper length and act quickly while installing. It should easily be a one man/woman job. If you have the mechanical ability to install your new group-buy valve stem covers, sheepskin seat covers, or aluminum sun-visor clips, you can do this.

Two people realy helps.
One to compress the other to guide and insert the pin.

I don't know how you could do it by yourself.
Although I could just be a puss.

you really just need a rock solid grip on the tube and lean your body into it. one of those rubber jar openers might help.
