The belts were OK. A bit stiff. Best that they were replaced.

That said, those automatic belt tensioners blow goats! I will NEVER do one of those again unless switching to the early manual tensioner. What a POS! Don't anybody talk to me for atl least a week about Porsche engineering.... I'd have to kill someone.

That said, we prevailed. For the first time in a long time I was very close to throwing in the towel. I hate doing that because if someone else can do it, so can it. ARGH!!!!!

But we got it done and all it well! Not a bad day's work. And despite my whining, I really felt like we accomplished something.

Wish I could have been there...
Did get the vast majority of the saw finished - no 220 yet - that's for tomorrow. Didn't get anything done on the dog house. Not enough hours in the day.

No need for the table saw for the dog house. We need to get you building furniture now.

Wow...that was truly an arduous experience, both physically and mentally. Like Geo said, from inspection it was time to replace the belts but they weren't in too bad shape. The balance shaft belt was worst, with obvious fraying on the internal side. The accessory belts are fraying/cracking and need to be replaced, too, but I haven't ordered new ones yet. There was a while there where we weren't sure what to do with the auto tensioner. Take it off or leave it on? I didn't have confidence that we could get it back on if we had removed it. Fortunately we figured out how to convince the timing belt to come off without removing the auto tensioner - even though it took an hour (if not more).

Many thanks and kudos to George for helping me out. I'm not sure I could have done it on my own.

His shop is nice - have to give him credit, it was a good find. Great part is it's only a half hour drive from my house, too!

That's great Brian. I really wanted to "learn" on someone else's car so I could do mine next time!

Looks like the saw is going to have to wait to be finished - heading to the hospital here in a bit. Youngest daughter and son in law have decided today is a good day to make 'ole Keith a grandfather!
