I don't have a ricy muffler but it sounds like it because of the Magnaflow. I don't know where to get a real resonator.

I love the way mine sounds, but I have no way to get audio on at the moment. I'll see if I can over the next day or two.

my car sounds pretty interesting... no cat, straight pipe from turbo to muffler with a spintech muffler. Sounds nice, has a bit more porsche gurgle to it.

I meant noise-wise, not HP-wise....

Daredevil- it wouldn't matter- their executive dept & final inspection teams would veto it before it ever reached the market anyway, OR, they'd do like Audi did w/the RS6, which STILL is WAY TOO heavily-ladden w/parts, &, try to LEASE it like Ferrari, only, w/out the warning... I have a friend who had down payements on TWO RS6's & they pulled the "We decided not to sell them outright- we'll LEASE it to you for two years first...." crap... They lost two $80K sales right there, &, considering the fact that many of their own dealers will not even CARRY OR work on RS6's, b/c of the HUGE expense in custom tools required, etc, this is not a good way to start.... What a bunch of idiots.... besides, any CAR w/close to 450HP & TQ, that can't run sub 12.5's w/AWD needs a DIET!

Neon- try Summit Racing- they have all kinds of mufflers & resonators, etc- a resonator is really just a smaller muffler- it has the cheese-grater-like holes on the inside, but, does not expand outward to larger out-wrap, so, it can fit in much smaller places- there are resonator tips too- instead of smooth inside, it has the little holes cut-out- wish I could come up w/a better definition. They are usually a bit cheaper too- I remember seeing some in summit for $60 or so that were about 1ft long.... this would work in the test pipe section. I bought mine from Huntley- they had advised me to use it as my regular muffler Yeah RIGHT! Anyway, it was great for a resonator though- it's over a foot long & fits well in that section... I think they charged me $80 though, so, it was a little steep, but, it worked well..... look up summit online- they will also send you a catalog....

Another alternative is to get the muffler that is used on the cars delivered without a cat.

Some european 944s didn't come with catalytic converters. Try and score the exhaust off one of those.

I have a couple of turbo S exhaust. Iwill be putting the cat-back part on my 88 project car. I understand that the 951 cat is a lot more free flowing than the n/a cat.

Sweanders- what are you talking about here.....? I'm not sure I understand.,.,..

As for the Turbo having freER flowing cats, this may be true, but, aftermarket free-flow cats have MUCH more flow.... I understand that ours is somewhere near 400 - cell & free flows can be found down to 100 cell, so, 1/4 the obstruction.... enough mufflers & resonators will cure any noise issue, AND, STILL flow just as well for any amount of HP/TQ anyone will likely ever see for one of these cars.... Now, going to a Supra TT engine is another story entirely.... The gains these cars have gotten has never demonstrated much w/larger exhuasts anyway, while, RX7, Supra TT, 300ZX TT, etc, have all responded MUCH better to bigger exhausts... Not saying 951's dont gain something, but, it depends on how much boost, plus other factors, not to mention, the gain is often overrated....

There was a very similar thread a while back. I tried to do the same thing and had the same results. In short, I reversed engineered the exhaust system and determined that with about 8 feet of pipe I would get a perfect resonance at 3300 -3400 rpm - which is what happened. You need to use a delta flow muffler made for racing applications without a cat. Suggest flowmaster 40 series and 2.5 inch system - gives a nice kick to an N/A at 4200 rpm and up. Dispite what others may say on this site, I can feel it.
