Default Uh oh...engine problems?

Ok. this is kinda creepy. I did a track day 2 days ago, and today, I started the car, and it took about 2 seconds to build oil pressure, and there was a rubbing sound coming from the engine, which lasted about a minute of the car running, and stopped after a "clunk" sound... did a visual external check, and all was fine. car idled fine, so I got in and drove.

about 10-15 min. later, the rubbing sound was back for 2 seconds, and ended again with a clunk. I was on the highway, noticed no difference in engine performance. Pulled into a gas station, filled up, checked oil, (which was fine) and did another visual, no problems again.

Pertinant info:
last oil change (2 weeks ago) I switched from Mobil 1 0W40 (winter oil) to Castrol GTX 20W50. Noticed some metal shavings on the drain plug, but there have always been since the rebuild. my neighbor who does a lot of engine rebuilds said this is normal for a while...at MOST 10k AFTER the rebuild. I'm at about 15k, still getting some shavings... I'm afraid...

grrrrr... oil shaving bad!!! ....

Get ready to tear it apart... the sooner the better, before you ventilate your engine bigtime!

Hrm....I'm gonna do an Oil analysis at the next change...

As for the intermittant mysterious sounds, there were none on the trip home... I'm still going easy on it, and inspecting everything tomorrow, but Hrm....

it's not making the noise anymore, butI think I may have slipped a tooth on the balance belt... a new vibration at 4k rpm has developed...
