Hi all,
Finally got this car in after waiting 3 months for it's arrival.
(edit by campeck:
I gave it a more interesting title!)

Only problem is no fuel and no spark. The car had an alarm in it and it was a total mess. Someone had taken it out and left some wires unattached. I think I got them all reconnected but had to take the dash out to get to everything.
Can someone tell me what this red relay is for??

You will notice the euro front bumper and the front valence w/o fog lights. Also the gross amber lights that were added to the sides of the front valence. The rear red running lights on the quarter panels are not in the correct position....someone added those later. The car has a ZZZ VIN and a plate on the door where it was imported into the U.S. by a company in PA. It has one of those folding warning triangles used for emergencies and the instructions are in German. The speedo was changed to MPH but the MPG gauge is still in KPH.

no factory alarm on the car?
EDIT: Disregard that question. Perhaps it could be a relay to the alarm? I have never seen anything like that behind the dash of a 944.
my guess is the alarms intestines are still left over

Swap out the DME relay first, check the output on the speed/ref sensors.
Swap out with a known good DME to rule that out of the equation.
Congrats!!

Already did the DME relay test...nothing.
I was checking ebay for DME's but the numbers don't match. All the ones I find are 0 261 200 015 and the one out of this car is 0 261 200 06.

Here are some pics of some shoddy work on the rear quarter panel lights. The first pic shows the position of the light, the second pic is a closeup of the silicone used to seal it since it is not set into the body. The third pic is my car for a comparison of position and fitment..

I have had 2 of the euro cars. You have to have the euro dme. It has the correct curve for the higher compression. You can use a early dme to get it running, but you won't get full use of the higher compression without the euro dme. I have re-wired a couple of early cars with harness's taken from other cars. It is not as bad as it looks. I will drop you a pm with my number, give me a ring tomorrow.
