Default Oil Pressure issue REVEALED!!

So I removed the oprv yesterday to find the following.

The black seal was pinched and ripped in half.
Not sure what caused this but I am pretty positive
this is why it is not pressurizing.

Is this a one piece or 3 piece OPRV?

That does not look like the 3-piece valve I took out of my 86 or 83. Mine did not have holes at the bottom, only a slight groove too wide for any kind of seal. The one in your photo looks like a 1-piece conversion OPRV with a failed inner o-ring for the 83 to 86.

This is the 1-piece conversion OPRV for 83-86 cars.

I take that back, I just looked it up again and it just looked funny because it was partially disassembled. Sorry for the confusion.

Np. That is the exact valve I have.. it was even ordered from world pac.
Does anyone know if I can order this seal seperately from worldpac?
I see it on pelican parts.. but I am impatient and want to get it running
today or tomorrow.

what kind of oil pressure problems are you having? mine is running a bit low and i'm wondering if it's something related to the OPRV

I was not building pressure until I revved it to 4500 rpms.. it would hold a while then fall off again.

Where does the black seal go??. On my 86 one piece valve I only recall haveing the O-ring at the top, I don't recall the part you have. Mabye yours is different from the 86.

That black seal goes between the lower piston section and the threaded cap as they are pressed back together. It provides the inner seal. The 1-piece conversion valve is really just a similar same sized replacement for the old 3-piece. The 87 and later are different on the insides and dont use the long spring shown in CO's photo. I would buy both seals while you are at it, the dealer has both...there's a post here somewhere with the correct part number for this <86 OPRV; do not get the seals for the 87+, they are not the same.

I have 3-piece converted to 1-piece as in the picture. The original 1-piece 87+ has different dimensions (f.e You cannot use late style oil cooler install tool). Does anyone know the exact size of the o-ring (a green one on the picture) of the converted 1-piece OPRV ?

Well.. the final result after being told by many a mechanic..
Spun a bearing. Time to swap out the motor. Which will
be happening very soon.
