Default A sad day in NoVa for an 1989 S2

Well I have spoken to a few listers and wasn't going to post this but I have changed my mind.

Yesterday my wife and I went to pick up a hatch for my '83. It was local to me and in good shape so I had no issues with spending a few $'s on it. Here is where the sad part starts.

The 1989 S2 that it came off was being parted out. It was red on black D90's. It was being parted because of a block/piston related issue. The car was missing engine, transmission and front suspension, front bumper was gone but al frame was still there front fenders were gone. No dash, no seats. Most of the interior was still in it though, engine wiring looked intact, radiator intact, all of the engine bay plastic bits. Rear bumper had a dent in it but shocks didn't look to be colapsed rear valance still on it. Well, generally speaking the car looked pretty good for re-building, body parts were straight and really really clean. The car looked to be a low miles well maintained car.

Well I decided against picking it up as I already have my own project and the timing is just not right for another one.

I decided to post this thread cause I was doing a bit of reading: http://www.connact.com/~kgross/FAQ/944faq03.html

There were only 970 '89 S2's brought into the US? It really sucks that it couldn't be saved, maybe someone here is interested?

I was wondering what you had decided on that. 'guess I don't have to email you now...

Too bad there isn't anything I need off of it...

Fenders were gone, D90's were in pretty good shape, decent 65-70% on the rubber. He needed the car out of the shop today.

I was working on him for around the price of a set of D90's for EVERYTHING and he was comfortable with the price, probubly woulda taken less. Let me know if you want his # and I'll gladly PM it to you.

Sorry about the car. Sounds like it is gone at this point. So, uh, Red Valance?? How much?

If it is Tom R's car I don't want anything though...

It has no dash, no engine, no interior, not all body panels...I don't think there's much left to save!

I can take a look at the hatch tonight. I know that there was a VA Tech and a Unversity of Maryland stickers on it. Still there actually. Wiper was removed and whole covered with duct tape. Sound like yours Tom?

Talked to the shop today and it is gone, wrecker was picking it up thisafternoon and the mechanic had gotten it down to just a tub yesterday

If there's only 970, even if (hypothetically) every one was red, seeing one getting cut up within driving distance of NY is not insignificant. Maybe someone had title to one that they wrecked, registered and drove yours for a few years on the other title?

Wasn't suggesting it to pull your chain, I always thought it s*cked that your car was stolen.

i know you werent kidding. i saw the post yesterday when the baby was falling asleep on my lap so I couldnt reply. today i got a pm reminding me of the post.

when i read the motor blew i got a strange sense of satisfaction.

my motor although freshly rebuilt, was getting ready for a timing belt adjustment. i would love to find out the bastards that stole my car were takiing a high speed turn when they downshifted and sixteen valves at 85 each came in contact with the recently ringed pistons, only to lose all power, especially in the brakes, only to hit the guardrail with the side (dont want airbags to deploy), take a bounce or two and then roll, ejecting the scum that were too cool to wear seatbelts onto the pavement in front of the semi that was barreling down the road.

Hey a guy can dream!!!
