Default West Coast Wrenchers - Call to Arms!

Hey gang...

Well, I'm putting in an official request for assistance here.

I was coming off a light last night and accelerated hard to pass a car...the RPM's rose, but the car barely moved forward. The clutch was slipping more than Roseanne Barr covered in Crisco on a Slip 'N' Slide.

Soooo...I'm gonna need some serious assistance and/or tools with a clutch job in the very near future. I'm looking at maybe 3 to 5 weeks from now, and the job must be completed in a weekend. Basically, I need to wait for two more paychecks in order to buy the parts.

If any of you want to speed this up for me (I don't know how long the clutch will hold), I have a brand new N/A radiator, and a set of late offset 15" PD's with almost-brand-new Bridgestone Potenza G009's (215/60/15) for sale. Hint hint!

I will be attempting to install (with some help, of course!) a Fidanza aluminum flywheel (6 lbs!) and a Centerforce Dual Friction clutch.

Beer and pizza provided...you bring the foul language and brute force! lol!

Awww geez. That sucks.

I'll help out, although honestly I REALLY could've done without that visual. . .

Can you get the car to Frank's or do you need a AAA tow?

It's still driving...it's my only car!!! I'm still commuting to work in it, but I am driving like a grandma. I am hoping the clutch will hold for another few weeks as long as I baby it, but I really can't say for sure. I just don't have the money to buy the clutch for another couple of weeks. Arrrrrgh!

Sean, I'm in. BTW, sign me up for that Slip n' Slide ride, Crisco ain't for the squeamish. Try to get your parts sooner, I can't imagine three weeks on a clutch packed with shortening.

I'll be doing mine in Denver so this is a great chance to break, errr learn and make sure my part list is complete. Just yesterday I ordered the clutch and tranny parts package (Sunset, Lindsey, Paragon) including 2pc. Xover tube, 3pc Xmember, Turbo Cup clutch, tranny seal kit, etc, etc.

If it happens on a weekend that I'm in town (I'm in pseudo-moving mode), I'll be there to help. I'd love to see how it's done. Where are you plan on wrenching?

Where the heck are you goin' anyway?

Kevin, I'm still interested in that transmission and helping you out in Denver assuming I go. . . Time off is okay right now, funds are the only limiting factor. I'll try to make it work one way or the other though. I need a freakin' vacation like nobody's business.

I'll discuss w/ you at the fix-it party.

Me? I'm going nomadic for the summer (and my stuff's going into storage and/or parent's place in NorCal).

BTW, send me PM with your address -- I want to put that rear view mirror in the mail for you today or tomorrow. I leave for Boston tomorrow -- I hoping to catch a Sox game while I'm out there.

Hey, not that I'm trying to take us off topic, but what do you guys think of this: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/showt...postid=1899689. I'm betting it's a simple DME relay or a TDC sensor problem. Who needs a 951?

I saw that - check the 944 turbo and turbo-s forum on Pelican. The guy obviously never checks his own posts. I'd certainly consider it. What's another money pit at this point?

Man, I keep forgetting about that Joe, I'll shoot you a message. If you're in Hermosa Beach drop it off with my wife

Ah... I see. So the car also has a busted turbo. The seller's down to $3500, though...

If you give me an address, I'll ship the mirror to you -- otherwise, we can wait until the next get-together (I'm thinking May 21/22 is a good weekend for me to wrench a little bit.)

I will try to plan the clutch job for that weekend if you're gonna be available. Lucky you!

Long Beach or Huntington Beach, I'm not sure yet. Thanks guys, I appreciate all the help I can get! I'm gonna try to scrape the cash together to get the clutch ordered ASAP.
