Sounds good -- I know I can help for at least one of those two days (I need one day to pack/clean my apartment). By the way, you should also look through the procedures to see what tools you need -- I currently have very little tools to offer (gone into storage for the summer....).

I've got TWO money pits. I'm gonna' call that guy with the red car. If it looks good I'll probably buy it or trade him something for it. Even if it doesn't run, I can mix & match enough stuff to get a nice 951 out of it or at worst fix it and sell it for twice what I pay for it. Or sell the white one or the silver one or my bike. Or all of 'em and buy a 911 cab.

I think that will be a good buy -- especially since you've got alot of experience replace the turbo. Last I checked, he wasn't asking that much for it. You can never have too many projects, right?

You've got THREE! Don't forget the little lady or else she'll get pissed!
"(I'm thinking May 21/22 is a good weekend for me to wrench a little bit.)"
Looks like it's good for me as well. I'm headed up north the weekend before. Personally, I'd yank the engine to do a clutch job. Working from the tranny forwards is a pain, lots of tight clearances that's a pain.

That's all right -- I've noticed that opportunities like these come up pretty frequenty. It's more a matter of how many parking spaces you have anyways....

If Frank has one of those bays open and you feel like helping me rip the engine and interior out of my silver car. . .
Joe, ain't that the truth? I hate how my bad Porsche habit is being kept in check less by sanity or spousal rantings than by the local parking ***** and how much time I feel like wasting every street cleaning day to shuttle cars from one side of the street to the other. . . Hopefully Frank's new place should alleviate some of that aggrivation though.

All I have to do is realign the oil cooler housing (hopefully that fixes the oil pressure issue) replace both water pumps, and replace a radiator hose and serpantine belt... Maybe figure out if my crank case is being pressurized, or if the dipstick just needs a new o ring.

I think Frank has an air compressor. If not I think I'm gonna' buy one this week. I'm sick of not being able to vaccum my own a/c lines, use my own paint gun, have access to an impact driver 24/7, etc. . . If you want one the Sears near me has some pretty good deals going on right now.

I have a 220v 60 gallon compressor but I am still working on getting the electricity and drywall to the garage let alone the 800 sqft prefab building and the permits involved. Its hard to do all this myself. I just spent lots of time and $ wiring the inside of the garage but still have to route power from the main house and install a breaker panel. I don't mind having events there but it may take a while for everything to be done. If we have a "drywall and paint" event or something along that line, it would be nice. Also, I am willing to trade automotive work for concrete slab work or other construction stuff....

CRAP...ok, I think it has to be the following weekend. I hope my clutch holds out long enough. I am in tech rehearsals for a show on the 21st and 22nd so that weekend is a no-go for me.
So...I am proposing Memorial day weekend, the 28th and 29th. I am praying not all of you are going out of town...those of us who stay to help with the clutch, maybe we could also BBQ and stuff in the evening.
I will look over the replacement procedure, but I am wondering how much time it takes to remove the engine via a hoist. I can rent one from Autozone or whatever I think, I don't own a cherry picker anymore. What specialized tools will I need to remove the engine and replace the clutch and flywheel? Any ideas? If it's possible to keep the engine in the car, I may decide to do that, only because I'll be pressed for time. I basically have about 7 hours each day, realistically, to get this job done. 14 hours total. Should I be worried, or can we do this?!
