Default My turbo is history

Just got the word from A Bauer that my turbo somehow inhaled a bolt and is no longer working....not to mention there is debris in the pipes and intercooler. So now I need a new turbo. Any ideas on what I should get? Bauer is recommending a K27. I have a 2.8L stroker with no other upgrades. While they are in there should I upgrade something else?

Any chance someone just wants to give me a turbo or intercooler or perform the work free of charge.... You never know until you ask.

While shopping give John @ http://www.vitesseracing.com/ a call. If my turbo ever went south he would be the first guy I would call.

I agree with Mike B, call john.

My 2nd option would be a full Garrett GT30R, www.atpturbo.com

Intercoolers can be cleaned out. If you are happy with the turbo you have, $100 can get you a good working k26/6 stock turbo and you are good to go after a full day of work.

Check your airbox to AFM mounting bolts (long, gold, 10mm IIRC), I bet one of those fell out and into the turbo. Porsche issued a recall for those bolts, they should be fastened with loctite.

Thanks for the advice. Just shot John an e-mail and he returned it in less than 5 minutes......impressive.

For sure I will check this right after the turbo is replaced. Thanks.

First thing I'd do is figure out what and where that "bolt" came from and make sure that doesn't happen again. No need spending the money/time slapping a new turbo on there for the same thing to happen later.

Well I figure i might as well upgarde the turbo since im paying the money anyway. I see vitesse has a nice stage IV for my 2.8L but the cost is $3800. Money well spent? What about the turbos from Powerhaus or Lindsey Racing?

Money well spent ??? I think so.

You were using a stock turbo with your 2.8 ? If so call and talk to John, he can do wonders for your car.

There are a few 2.8 Vitesse stage 4 setups about to hit the dyno.

Myself with a 106mm 2.8
"jwl" with a stroked 2.8 ( new engine break-in at the moment)
"Boostguy" with a 104mm Darton wet sleeve (in build process)
