Unhappy This EBAY beauty is a true 944 TARGA!

OH MY! Take a look at this super-rare canvas back 944!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

Can you imagine taking a drill and putting SNAPS all the way around your hatch?

YOW!

(sorry if repost!)

"This car is custom because you can remove the rear hatch and keep the snap on canvas. when top and hatch are off its like driving a convertable and turns even more heads"

ohhhhh, I'm sure it turns a lot more heads, "What the heck was he thinking!"

That car wins the "home depot restoration" award. WTF??? That is absolutely the stupidest single "custom" thing I've ever seen done to a 944.

I love it when people do something exceedingly chintzy to a car because they're cheap and then have the nerve to call it "custom". . .

this was up on ebay about a month ago.. i emailed the guy about it and he said that the canvas top was custom made by a shop.. not just him putting cutting a window in a canvas and nailing it on..

Why would anyone want to do that to their car? I'm really at a loss for words here.

WTF mate?

What's next? Velcro-attachments? No - zippers. Maybe zip-lock type stuff for wind & water seals?

I swear Ebay is a car-show for idiots lately.

Anyone ever driven with the hatch open? Know what happens? It'll sure make you feel funny after a little while.

Serge... To each his own, but I'd prefer to NOT see a woodie "Pop Up" anywhere!!!

I think the 944 lends itself to many possible (thoughtfully considered) design mods (certainly regarding the top).... But THAT is just too much! Looks like a stage coach luggage rack cover from a old John Ford movie!!! Ugh!!!

I once put a firebird quarter panel in the back of my brothers 280Z, drove about 100 miles with it in the hatch.

we had to drive with the windows open and the fan on full to keep the exhaust from killing us while we were driving. We pulled into a friends house about 30 miles from home. she looked at us like we were crazy. later i hit the head and saw in the mirror that my face was black like a coal miner.

Just what I want to do on a sunny sunday, when I go for a drive. and if it rains I just pop on the canvas and drive with zero visibility in the rain.

And I thought I had nothing to do when I made a dead pedal for the GTO out of a piece of aluminum angle iron painted & drilled to match the other pedals.
