Just as an FYI... C&D did a recent test of performance meters. They found the G-Tech to be very good for the price, but you should be aware that there is a limit to their accuracy. For example, their G-Tech was consistently reading +0.05g over actual...

As you can see the AX22 was the most accurate, then again its $900.

Good point. The mythical prof is technically correct in his/her statment, but the real world is a lot more complex than just a simple model with coefficient of friction, forces and surface area. For example, the surface shape has a huge impact (e.g. Velcro!)

LOL.

Guess I was wrong. I had it in my mind that CF could not be higher than 1. Maybe I was thinking molar concentration from chemistry. Haha.

Sounds right to me. Molar concentrations don't exceed 1 if I remember correctly from chem istry (nothing like listening to chem lectures at 7:30 am). I don't recall ever being told that the u of friction couldn't exceed 1 though. Also a large portion of physics is assuming ideal conditions, and ignore many of the forces actually involved in systems. Well at least until upper division classes... then the fun really begins.

Thats true, My Gtech with the old software reads RPM pretty good, but when I flashed it to the RR version for the road racing options, the RPM wasnt stable worth a crap. I was in contact with Gtech quite a bit even testing a beta version for them which was better, but still not as good at reading RPM than the old version was.
I'm really wondering why his is reading so well compared to mine.

Hmmm....

Perhaps his software was supplied by Leda?

Back to the point.... there are lots of shocks that improve a car's handling. What you are getting with the Ledas that you don't with other choices is extreme amounts of adjustment. You can tune your chassis balance exaclty the way you want it in a matter of seconds with no tools. You can also do differential tuning for one specific turn/weakness without effect the other wheels. 24 clicks gives you lots of range, and choices.

Tim - make sure you keep me posted on how things go with the new suspenders. Gotta take care of my customers!

LOL! Yeah, I expect you're getting most of your benefit on the skidpad from the springs, not the shocks - since it's steady state cornering (or should be), the shocks should have little effect. They will shine when you actually start driving real-world and make transitions.

Back to the orig topic, just wait till you get some good rubber on that car. I do have data (from a data system even better than the GTech) that shows nearly 1.2g lateral out of my 924 (the one in the avatar). This is at speeds as low as 40mph - no real downforce happening there. That's on old Hoosier R3S03's. Of course, you can also get lateral peaks when cornering at the bottom of a gulch - think Eau Rouge at Spa, car's all compressed on the suspension, outside of speed creating possible downforce the extra compression will give even more grip. Other examples are coming up to the Keyhole at Mid-O (on the Pro Course) where the road rises in the braking zone, resulting in even more grip (and really late braking), or turns 1-2 at Waterford Hills.

If you want to see proof, watch my videos:
http://vaughanscott.com/videos.htm - go for the ones marked in red with Data Overlay.

What is this "ice" stuff you speak of? We don't have that around here in SF

Then obviously you're living in the wrong place - can't get much racing if you don't have ice, now, can you?

Well - one its other useful functions is to keep the beer cold. There are even some less cultured individuals who actually use it in their (non-beer) drinks.
