Yes it would. Ideally taking all the weight out of the center section would work out best but in reality I'm going to have to take some off of the outer ring too. I want to be down around 12 but depending on how it looks once I flatten the back side and take a little off the edge I might just stop there.

You will be changing the moment of inertia by doing that, so keep in mind that taking off 5 lbs from near the center of the flywheel will not have the same effect as taking off 5 lbs from the outer edge.

Or better yet- copy the Fidanza drill patterns in actual size to get the best balance, and lightening spots. You may not achieve the Fidanza lightness, because of the center machining- but at least lighten the rotating mass considerably.

What exactly do I need to retain on the flywheel for the speed and referance sensors to work properly? There is a small allen screw in the side, I think someone said that was for some sort of diagnostics tool so that can go right?
