Default Talk some sense into me...

Here is the deal. I have an opportunity to get an 83 911 with 140 on the clock, a factory Whale Tail super clean from a reliable enthusiast owner. He wants 10K for it. My wife actually endorses the deal.
Of course, I would have to sell my 944....
Is this a good idea?
Thanks

How long have you had an 944? My next car will be an 911. I've had a 944 for a few years and I would like to try something different (Porsche of course).
I love the 944, but life is so short and I'd like to own many other P-cars.
Maybe it's time to try something new?
I say go for it!

I would encourage it. It's not like you'd be going from a 951

I almost bought an SC before I found the 951 and am still thinking of picking one up. Go for it.

I have had my 944 for 7 years. I poured my blood into the car. I know every nut and bolt. But this is a pretty tempting opportunity. Many cards have to fall into place....

$10k sounds like a great deal for an SC and that engine is just getting broke in with 140,000 miles. If it's in nice shape and has all the proper upgrades, i'd be all over it. Besides, if you sell your 944 and miss it that much, you could always pick up another cheap 944 to mess around with on the side.

I say drive it first. If you like the position of the pedals, and the 915 transmission (and of course the sound/power), then go for it!

Tifo
That is the one thing that I am really curious about the 911. The seating position just doesn't look as "sporty" as I would like. It looks very upright. But I have never driven one either.
Very interested in the sound and power however....

I just don't like how the pedals are through the floorboard, not hanging down from the dash like on the 944 series... other than that, they're great in my book!

but I agree with Tifo. if ya like it, buy it!

How do you use your 944 right now?

If you plan on using the 911 as an everyday car you will miss the comforts of the 944 series. The 911 seems very archiac compared to the water pumper. Plus being in Tampa your AC works much better on a 944.

But for pure fun the 911 is the way to go. Once you get used to the pedals the party is on!

Dude! What are you waiting for?

Shoot, don't worry about the blood you've poured. You'll pour some into the 911 too. Heck, your car has some of my blood too. Time for someone else to pour blood into it.

Get that 911.

Pix. We need pix.

I'd say a 944 is a little more conducive to daily driving but your sig says you have another daily driver. Seven years is a long time with any car, it might be fun to have something 'new' to wax. I hope you are happy with whatever decision you make.
