I have negotiated with a leading belt manufacturer to produce Kevlar™ timing belts for the 944 series.
I would like to gauge genuine interest in this type of product.
Because of the very large minimum quantity and dollar investment required for manufacture, I need to get an idea of expected volume, and decide if it is indeed a worthwhile venture.
I know this board may be a small sample of owners but I feel it's a good place to start.

Great idea! I know Kevlar is longer wearing but how much longer?

I guess I'm asking for a comparison with the stock Conti belts.

I did my belts last year. I dont even want to think about doing them again for awhile.

I'd be interested in the test data and I'd probably be in for one or two. I threw this idea out a few months ago and everyone seemed to think it was a dumb idea so I gave up on it. Glad someone followed through with it. What manufacturer are you dealing with?

How long does the average water pump last?
Would you re-use a Kevlar belt when doing the pump?
When will we find out how much longer they last vs stock? (when the first valve goes smash)

Neat idea, but much more money over stock I don't see much value. How many here will go 75k on a Kevlar belt just "find out" how long it will last?

I see more value for a track car trying to run very tight valve springs. I'm not sure about the 944, but 928's trying to run super tight springs have been known to rip belts apart.

Shouldnt cost that much more than what is available already, Kevlar is the norm at this point. As to how much better is it, A LOT. In fact the new Evo 9 has a "redesigned" timing belt incorporating a better Kevlar belt. Good enough for Mitsu to switch.

I dont need one but if they are even close to the prices available now, I will buy one.
