Ohh man, that one really must hurt...

Bring it out next time. The next one wil be an IRAC under different rules, but maybe you can pull out something in the top 10.

TJ, What are the class rules for IRAC?? What class would I fall in if my only change from stock is sway bars?

Thanks,

Jason

From the last that I heard they will run under the PCR that we run under with some minor changes. The classes will be for a mid-sized region instead of the full size that we run with no showroom stock. Also, for IRAC events, your best 2 times count, not just your best time. So the sway bars will not be a change in going from P to I or anything above, but a 944 is in P2.

P2? Jeeze, I guess a CGT is like a P5 for IRAC? I think there needs to be some classification changes soon.

I don't write the rules, I just report em. I know where you are coming from, as stock old 944's must be in the same class as a modified one. The classes were combined from what I have been told to promote more competition as the previous rules produced a lot of one class winners. However, there is a lot that has to be done to goto anything like I or M with these new rules. Even if we ran showroom stock classes, they do not have them for anything older than a 968, a 1992. I would predict that the rules will be constantly evolving in the next couple of years. It all depends on what happens at Parade, and how they see they need to change their rules.

This is a very good discussion (albeit it should be on the Autox forum but it does involve 944's so I guess we are good here?). I worried when I read the new rules that I would get a little harassment from some fellow 924/944 owners for being in their class with the modifications that my car has. And, true to form, at the last event, a certain 924 driver complained several times about how he did not stand a chance against Dan and myself with the modifications on our cars.

I have considered just saying I am in I-2 even though the rules say I am in P-3, but then there really would be no other cars in that class (according to the first two events of the season and what I know of the cars from last years competitors). So what is fair? Certainly Dale and Jason may get faster chasing after me, but at the end of the day will it leave a bad taste in their mouth as they have no hope in getting a 1st place finish? I dunno. Now I have done two events already in P-3 so I would like to stick it out until the end of the season (due to accumulated points).

Something tells me that the rules will change again at the end of this season.

Honestly Jeremy...It really makes me drive harder to try to compete with you guys!!! On the flip side it'd be nice to have a series, IRAC maybe, that I would have a possibility of finishing 1st. in. I totally see where you are coming from too...who wants to be in class with just 1 or 2 cars....that's no fun. Rules is rules and we all have to live by them and be happy

Well, one way to also look at it is this, P3 is our largest class and naturally has the most amounts of trophies awarded. When everyone comes back, there will be 4 P3 trophies to give out for just this past Sunday alone. The chance of getting a trophy in P3 is pretty good.
