Default Delrin on a street car?

I'm toying with the idea of using part of the tax return for the 968 M030 sway bars and am curious if the Delrin bushings are worth the added cost on a mostly street car?

Anyone using them? Are they worth it or overkill?

I'm using delrin inner and spherical drops on my rear bar, front bar is delrin inner with new rubber outters. They made a HUGE difference.

Question. Is the Delrin bushing on the front inner sway bar make the ride too harsh for a stock street car?

I just whipped some inner front sway bushings up for myself on the lathe. I am almost done with my scheduled maint./upgrades on my sunroof delete NA. I figured while I was going to the trouble to put turbo sways on, I might as well get some delrin and Serge's droplinks........

Are they oilproof? That would be a big reason to go to them. My car decided to leak over the past couple of months, right over the right side of the bar, and it's stopping me from installing my 951S bar on the car.

I know what I'll be doing with my check from Uncle Sam in April...

I have the same set up as ibkevin and added the sway bar front brace which triangulates the inner mount to the chassis. made a huge difference in feel and response through the steering wheel. Highly recommended for street or track.

It's my understanding that the delrin is meant to limit the twisting of the sway bar so i'm not completly sure about oil proof but they do not swell like the oem rubber.

Delrin is NOT meant to limit twisting, it is meant to take out the squishiness as you load up the bar and give you a more linear response. Make the bar do the work, not the soft rubber. And yes - Delrin does hold up to oil MUCH better than rubber.......

Furthering sharky's points... delrin is supposed to hold up to oil, and actually increases the swaybar's rotational ability, as it negates the deflection, and forces the suspension to translate said motion into rotation.

When it comes to it, Dan, delrin isn't going to harm your streetable ride when you're talking about sway bars... when you start going into spring-plate bushings and such, THEN you can start to consider driveability.

Do it.

Does Delrin make any NOISE...??? I've heard rumors that it squeaks & that would annoy me on a street car.. This thread is convincing me to try them. Where can one get them for 968M030 sways & how much do they go for...? Would you do just the inners or inner & outer, etc...?

Daniel- if you're about to buy 968M030's, check Sunset's prices- I bought from them awhile back for ~$375 & that included both bars & all new bushings, etc.

Indeed. I have the delrin bushings on my car, well off my car (ie disassembled since last MAY!). No squeak. The spring plates are next. It did well against the horrendous power steering leak that I didn't have time to fix at the time.

Sharky, did you make sway bar bushings out of aluminum? How are you going to slip them onto the bar?? Or are you just making them as 2 halves?

My biggest concern / complaint with the front sway bar is the shoddy, chintzy inner sway bar mounts. I always wonder how 944s can be among the best handling Porsches when so many parts on them are dinky and frail compared to on other Porsches. I've seen a 944 WITH the extra inner sway bar mount brace, and the mount + brace just snapped in half during a track day.
