Default Clutch repair kit

Just got my 83 944 out of the barn for the summer. There is a slight bearing type squeak when I push the clutch in. The clutch is original, as far as I know, no records when I bought the car. Yes, timing belts and rollers were replaced before I even drove it.
So I might need a clutch repair kit for an 1983 944 N/A and I thought I might save a few bucks by buying a kit in the US and shipping it up as our Canadian dollar is strong now.
Any suggestions for a source?
Thanks,
Mike

Definitely consider replacing the clutch. That car will feel like it gained 20HP when you do!

Check the "sponsors" section in the left menu. I've bought clutch kits from Ian's Euro and Zim's Autotechnik at very good prices in the past.

I bought mine in Pelican (I'm in Canada too), and it comes with the spring-type disk. Everything was OK, except the bolts for the pressure plate were Allen type, not the 12-point type as discussed on this forum.
Actually, now I have small vibrations at 3.2krpm, but I blame for it the local shop which resurfaced the flywheel: I think the flywheel is slightly out of balance now.

I bought my clutch kit from Zims, 90% of the time, they're the cheapest, and I've never had late parts, a wrong order, anything from them yet.

I would 2nd pelican. Mine did come with the 12 pt fasteners for the flywheel. For the cost of the kit, they pretty much throw in the master and slave cyl. One other thing, pelicans kit doesn't come with PP fasteners. They sell them so you should probably add them to the list.

PP fasteners available from Pelican? What might those be, please?

Pressure plate bolts, about 2" long, 8mm triple square head, usually round out on pressure plate removal.

Oh, so that's what they are, I found Zim's to have a good deal, real rapid response to my enquiries. Thanks for the advice guys this is a site that has helped me a lot and saved me a ton of money.
Now, if I could only get into the classifieds.........

The pressure plate bolts are hex head, ALWAYS REPLACE THEM!
the 12 point are on the flywheel.

I think I remember reading on one of these lists that someone bought a belt or something from Zim's that was less than the OEM standard....but cheaper too. Is that possible? Are there several part qualities floating aroung out there...e.g. Tbelts, etc. I've never ordered from any of the companies yet...just having bought my 968..but I have about $1000 worth of parts I'll be getting and I want to make sure that I get the best. Suggestions? Stick with Porsche parts?

I've never seen hex or allen head PP bolts, mine have all been 8mm triple square, including the new set I bought from Lindsey Racing.

The factory uses 12 point triple square bolts to attach the pressure plate to the flywheel and the flywheel to the crankshaft. I have never seen the factory use hex head or allen bolts to attach the pressure plate to the flywheel.

I'm sorry, maybe I just missed it, why are you replacing the clutch? What are the symptoms that you are having? A squeak when you press the clutch pedal is just the throw out bearing making some noise. If it's not too bad I'd just ignore it for a while. If it gets worse then I'd replace the clutch. Throw out bearings do make some noise, especially when they have been sitting for a while. Sometimes the noise disappears once you use them for a bit. If it doesn't, then yea, replace it, or learn to shift without the clutch .

When I replaced my original 160K clutch on the 83 6 months ago the PP was attached with factory allen bolts. This seems to be the standard an the early cars. Many others with early cars can confirm this.
