Default NorCal Timing Belt Party Sun. April 17th

I have the tools on the way courtesy of Joe Chen.

I'm not sure of the date yet, but we're shooting for either April 16th or 17th. And I think we can do it at Steve's (ckathens) place in SF, but he's out on spring break now so we'll confirm when he gets back.

If any of you NorCal guys need to do your belts, now is the time. Let me know if you want to come out and join us so we can make sure we schedule enough time.

Get your parts order in early!

chris

Where is JerryW's place?

Steve' s garage will fit 2 cars front to rear and one in the drive. Any local is ok with me as long as there is beer there! (and speedTV too since the petit lemans is that sun.)

I believe Jerry's place is near Oakley, around Manteca. He said he has almost a 10 car driveway - lots of room.

By the way, "Oakdale" is closer to Manteca (on the way to Yosemite), while "Oakley" is more towards Antioch.

either way, both those locations are near me (currently in Lodi with a lot of space too, but few amenities) . so i will showing up when this gets going, wherever we decide.

We can host the belt party but the 16/17th won't work, the weekend after would be fine. Auto-x both days in Santa Rosa. I'm in Oakley and have room for us to work on 4-5 cars at the same time as well as parking for those waiting. You can see the front half of one driveway at www.whitteridge.org.

I'll try and get over for that. I've just changed my belts, rollers and seals, so I might get to the 1000 mile retension if I get a move on and do some good drives the next few weeks! Was good looking through those photos of the porsche run last year on your website Jerry, I seem to have successfully barged my way onto most of them!

This date won't work for me either. I'll be out of town. Following weekend I may be over @ Bill's installing the Griffin prototype Radiator.

Talked to Steve today and the date is set for Sun. April 17th. We'll start wrenching around 9am. Steve is going to post directions to his place later. If you plan on coming, let me know so we can make sure we have enough food and drink for everyone.

Some of you had indicated that you can't make it. If any of you want to set up an another wrenching day let's see what works. I have all the timing belt tools and there are plenty of things for me to wrench on my car.

Everyone is invited to come over to my place on Sunday, April 17th for a timing belt party.

I am located at 91 Middlefield Drive, San Francisco, zip code 94132. Map here:

http://maps.google.com/maps?q=91+Mid...0.056714&hl=en

You can try to get directions from google, mapquest, or yahoo, but they often route you in strange ways, so I suggest the directions below:

Directions from North Bay:

Come across Golden Gate Bridge which becomes Park Presidio. Follow Park Presidio until it becomes 19th Avenue. Follow 19th Avenue until you get to Ocean Blvd. Right on Ocean Blvd. Go 7-8 blocks to Middlefield Drive. Right on Middlefield Drive. We are the first house on the left (91 Middlefield).

Directions from East Bay:

Come across Bay Bridge on 80. Take 101 South to 280 South. Exit off 280 onto Ocean Blvd. Take Ocean for a few miles until you pass over 19th Avenue. Go 7-8 more blocks to Middlefield Drive. Right on Middlefield Drive. We are the first house on the left (91 Middlefield).

Directions from South Bay:

280 North. When 280 splits in Daly City, take the left fork (19th Avenue, towards the Golden Gate Bridge). Stay in the right two lanes. At the next
light, the road splits - the left goes to 19th Ave and the right goes to Junipero Serra. Take the right side of the split down Junipero Serra. Go a few blocks,
take a left on Ocean Blvd. Go 9-10 blocks on Ocean. Right on Middlefield Drive. We are the first house on the left (91 Middlefield).

There should be enough street parking on the block for all of our cars. The first person to arrive can also park in our driveway. And of course you can park
across our driveway if someone is already parked in the driveway. I'll have the garage door open and be hanging out in there while people show up.

I figure people should start showing up at around 9:30 a.m. or so. That will give us time for everyone's cars to cool down. As for tools, i have SOME tools and Chris is bringing the specialized tools, but you might want to bring a small kit with you as well.

I'll provide drinks: beer (no domestic beers, but you can bring your own ) and soda. I have a grill if people want to grill. There's a supermarket about 2 blocks away so we can decide about what to do for lunch when people start to get hungry.

If you have any problems getting here, you can call me on my cell phone at (408) 646-0283.
