Default Wheel Question

I presently have 15 inch wheels with 225/60R15s on them. Thinking about changing to 16" rims with 205/55R16s and 225/50R16s. The question is what effect would this have on handling, speed and mileage?

Thanks

Dan,

Check this link out for speed difference and rolling circumference size.

As far as gas mileage goes I don't think I noticed any difference going from 15" to 16" with 205 and 225 tires on my car.

The tires you have now are too tall. What you are proposing is a much better fit.

I know. Was thinking of either going with the 16 in setup or getting the proper 215/60R15s for the rims I have now. I guess the question should have been the differences between the 16 inch setup (205/55R16,

By the way I have 15" PD's now and would be getting 16" PD's.

You'll notice sharper turn-in (more responsive). Better ultimate grip. Better acceleration. Higher stop-speed. Worse gas mileage...

Are you talking with the 16" rim setup?

Yes, with the 16" set-up. Whoops, I meant higher top-speed as you'll have lower effective gearing and will allow the engine to rev a little higher.
