Default Getting gaskets off

I am in the process of replacing some vacuum lines, and the oil filler o ring's. What do you guys normally used to get the gaskets off the engine? I am talking about the intake gaskets. I have all of them off the intake. I am having a problem with one gasket on the head of the car.

I use a gasket scraper...it's like a long screwdriver, with a wide, sharpened edge...since the head is in the car, I'd stuff a rag down the intake holes before you do this...that should scrape it right off... if you don't have one, try a razorblade...

I use a razor blade very carefully, and spray brake cleaner on the gasket as i am scraping. The brake cleaner really eats through gaskets. When i get it close to the surface, then brake cleaner and a course rag work well.

I spent about 3-4 hours scraping off my cam tower gasket.. I used a spakel(sp?) spreader thing, and wd-40 to moisten the gasket .. it took forever.

Try some paint stripper that is safe for aluminum.

you can make a decent scraper with some copper pipe hammered down; or buy one at the tool store.
