Default Glove Box Door Emblem 1983 944

Hi,
Should a 1983 Porsche 944 interior glove box on the dash have a porsche emblem on it? I have seen numerous 84 944's with an emblem, but wondering about an 83 944?

Thanks
Darcy

Yes, the 83 944 came with a brass emblem to cover the glove box door key hole.

If there is a little hole (top left of the key hole) for the post of the badge to go through then it's meant to have one. The badge actually pivots on the post so you can swing it sideways to expose the key hole.
If yours doesn't have the right latch I'm sure you could fit a later one. The crest & hardware costs only a few dollars from a Porsche dealer.

2000 grit sandpaper then some Flitz... Dremel with some jewelers rouge and a buffer will get it to cast a reflection.

If its brass, Brasso works wonders, just dont get it on the dash...may have adverse affects (not for sure). Brasso works great on my belt buckles... .

No it won't you need the glove box key , my ex 83- 944 came with 3 keys (A ignition -gas cap & rear hatch) ( B - alarm) & this little fellow C- glove box.

Mine came with a key (a) that works the ignition, doors, hatch, and gas cap.

It also came with two keys (c) for the locking lug nuts. Maybe they also lock the glove box...

My 83 had one key for the rear hatch and one for the rest of the car, but the driverside door was broken so u could use any key. Got a new cylinder and sat down 3-5 hours trying to rekey the new cylinder and rear hatch to fit my old key. I got it to work ! but didnt have new splints so I had to take out 1 splint of each cylinder to make it work. But god damn it I got it to work !
But is ther a place to buy the glove emblem ? I would like to have a nice shiny one ther that works and don't fall down.

My 24S has a dedicated ignition key, another for the doors and hatch and gas cap. Another for the glove box, and one for the wheel locks.
